BunnyxWolf AU snuggles & spoilery thoughts 💭

After taking Keith in, the little wolf pup is settling in very well! Pose based on Januriart’s base sketch! ✍️

I’ve been thinking a little bit about the lore and world building behind Bunwolf AU, percolating thoughts about bunny and wolf social behaviours and other random loosely connected tidbits 😚💭 Maybe these count as spoilers for things I want to draw so ⚠️ spoilers ahead!

• Wolves live in family groups, Keith is a little runt so he internalises that he was abandoned because he was too weak or small, but in actual fact wolves are very feared so his family may have been hunted/split apart violently (maybe humans also exist in this AU?!!??)
• Bunnies live in social groups too so Shiro being on his own is an anomaly, he got his facial scar from fighting with his brother and had a falling out. He has 4 bunny brothers who we might see later 👀
• Wolves are obligate carnivores but they can eat veggies and it is good for them, they also tend to hunt/eat in a feast/famine pattern, so they’ll gorge on a big meal once in a while, usually hunting for game much bigger than them. Meanwhile there have been cases were wild hares have been documented to eat a little meat in wintertimes 😱 So Keith will hunt and be a little wild and bloody and then store lots for later (hot 🥵)
• Keith regards Shiro as the (2 person) pack Alpha, he’s not sure where he stands with Shiro but he loves and looks up to him a lot
• Wolves and bunnies both have social grooming behaviours, with bunnies the most dominant bunny will be groomed by others more!
• Wolves typically only breed for like one week of the year in wintertime, usually only the pack alphas will breed. Meanwhile rabbits breeding season is like 3 months in the spring and then phrase ‘breed like rabbits’ is well-founded 😳
• Bunnies in this AU have a spring carnivale event to satisfy their need to breed, they all get together and have huge orgies and keep count so they can buy enough contraceptives to go around. Family planning bunnies!
