My $50/hr calculation is wrong. This pound of shrimp was about $2 less expensive than the pre-peeled option, so since it took me 4 minutes to peel each one, it's more like $30 an hour. Your rate will vary, depending on the price per pound and the number of shrimp per pound.
Whenever I peel shrimp, it's because I'm about to cook them. For that reason, I always make stock in the background as I cook whatever I started out wanting to eat. After I'm done eating and the stock is cooled, I let it hang out in the fridge waiting for an application. In this video, I just made stock, because I didn't want to overwhelm the viewer with information. I anticipate at least a few comments like "what do i do with the shrimp meat tho"
Shrimpy beans are so good it really does make the burrito taste like it should cost twice as much with all that shellfishy flavor. I don't think I would ever have a desire to cook lobster mac n cheese at home for two people, but I put the idea out there just in case.
I think I look orange in this video. I can't tell.... My monitor is kinda wonky since the beer-filled GPU incident, but the colorscopes say it's fine. It might be because there's more white in the background instead of 80% brown cabinets. Nobody cares about this sort of stuff but damn I really do need those cabinets painted. It's always a matter of taking a half week off work or hiring a pro for a couple thousand dollars....
The Haus read took like 6 takes so I ended up drinking like three whole glasses right before bed on a Monday. I worked from home with a hangover on Tuesday.

that shrimp peel oil is truly great. I originally mentioned it in this video, but cut it out because it didn't really contribute to the learning objective

I was trying to link to it when I made this post, but unfortunately the product is all sold out and the page was 404'd. Who knew this would be such a hot drop???

I bought the haus sampler a few days ago from your last video and am now waiting for it to arrive. I made your gambas al ajillo recipe a while ago and used the shrimp peel oil it was amazing

The shirt really is the star of the show. Any chance you can point me in the direction of where I can get one?

I don't think it'd be weird. They'd probably make their presence known more than a carrot would, but worst case scenario is you've got a veggie stock that tastes vaguely of shrimp.

Do you think mushrooms would be too weird in a shrimp stock? I have a freezer bag of all my vegetable ends saved for stock from the last few months but it is chock full of mushroom bits.

I get paid to read the ad, and they don't give me anything else based on how many people buy some! (they did purchase another read in both May and June, though!)

All right, this video made me cave. I’ll buy something from Haus.
Thanks for the shrimp stock suggestions. I normally buy my shrimp pre-peeled with only the tail on but I guess I underestimated how often I can use shrimp stock in place of my oft-applied chicken stock. I’ll be sure to keep some on hand the next time it costs me $0.00 to make a small amount.
Thanks, as always
