morgue & extinction (now w/ source .xcf!)

wow! another drawing much sooner than i thought. it was a little forced and it's not porno because i still haven't had much of a libido but it turned out okay, i think. it looks fancy at least

interdimensional-horror-morgue went afk while waiting for its skeletal minions to finish assembling themselves, so now dopey-horny-morgue's-original-self is just hanging out. she's smiling like a dope because she's thinking of good one-liners like "hey you ever fuck an undead girl up the butt"

here's morgue with her "gun," Extinction. candy's blaster is named tender lover in reference to the babyface song. Extinction is a reference to the pixies' the sad punk 

the sad punk is about ancient life being made to go extinct and then turning into fossil fuels and causing another extinction, like a cycle of abuse. it's an odd poignant idea and tar pit imagery isn't common in music:

anyway, this is why morgue's gun works the way it does!

morgue's shtick is that she's a primordial necromancer, basically. that's what made me think oh, yes, tar pit skeleton gun. she's from a long long time ago, maybe a weird foggy place like this with not many people living there. stonehengey. i think she used to be just like... the local witch

at some point she got corrupted by an elder god older than time and death that has its tendrils poking through reality and so morgue ended up becoming Corrupted and getting all interdimensional and weird. the necromancy stuff is more like "nah, i don't think i feel like respecting the rules of this whole 'death' thing you made up"

so morgue's spooky badguy serious necromancer shtick is basically just some other interdimensional entity symbiotic relationship thing she gets immortality and necromantic ability from. tbh i might start spelling its name as MORG and ditzy fun morgue as Morgue because it gets too clunky otherwise. it's funny to me if it's intentionally confusing though

anyway, sometimes MORG's gotta go afk though and that's when fun horny morgue is around -- that's her old self!

additionally!!! weed makes the connection fuck up like MORG is frozen in place while the Unplugged Phone Cable icon is blinking like in quake 2

like i figure morgue's a bad guy at first but then Does A Vegeta at some point and just smokes a lot of weed and keeps trying to get laid and accidentally creeping people out

hella and other higher up demons smoke a lot of weed because demons are generally slackers and kind of bad at their jobs and when you're st0ned the weird rts game style orders thing can't happen. satan can't get them to do SHIT when they're stoned. it's the same for MORG and morgue

anyway, Extinction goes along with the interdimensional void horror shtick. it just kind of forms out of thin air. it's tar pit themed! ancient and fucked up and all-consuming

it's one of those weird gimmick guns like how unreal tournament and daikatana did em -- it's kinda hard to tell but i thought the grip here would be kind of far forward and she like, reaches into its chest cavity and has it extending back over her forearm arm to shoot it

it's like one of those backwards looking alien pistol fps things from early 00s fps games... although i think since it phases in and out of reality it probably varies in appearance, but always looks black and skeletal

anyway one firing mode shoots fucked up sticky goo that dissolves stuff and sticks it in place -- the other firing mode is a fireball that lights it on fire!!! or maybe just a flamethrower. it's like a combination of stickies from tf2 and the goo gun from ut99, and maybe a little flamethrower?

it also has that 1999-2000 colored lighting shit going on. i think the flames are maybe also magenta -- or maybe another color to visually contrast with the gun and the goop. ooh like neon green -- tender lover shoots cyan, velouria shoots orange/red. >>>COLORED LIGHTING!!!<<<

there's a few things i was going for with this pic -- the dark-and-rainy look games and alternative rock music videos had in the late 90s, early 00s -- graphics card demos, benchmarks, what i'd call the "modern pc demoscene" look starting from the early/mid 00s (i still see it around!) -- and the "primitive" look going on in riven and unreal

also i used photos from pixabay and snappygoat! those are both great for public domain photos. unsplash is also okay but it's more just for wallpapers -- very pretty ones but not useful as source photos in art since they've often had color fuckery already done
