A lot has been written about the radium girls and their fight for justice, which meant that I had a lot of sources to draw on for this video. Here are a couple that I'd particularly recommend.
First is the film Radium Girls. Like many films of its type, it does dramatise events somewhat, but it's also really good for getting an insight into what it would have been like for the workers, and for learning more about their lives.
The other source I particularly liked was the short film by John Sutherland, A Is For Atom. It's a promotional film from the 1950s, designed to make atomic energy seem less threatening, and to "humanise" the atom. It's not directly related to the story of the radium girls, but knowing what we know now about radiation it certainly is an odd experience to watch!
