The Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck

The wreck of the plane is certainly very Instagram-friendly… and, like many famous Instagrammable landmarks, it’s a bit of a contentious subject. People are often seen climbing (or even skateboarding) on the wreckage – something that is causing it irreparable damage. Although, of course, it’s a wreck to begin with, and something that’s not part of the natural landscape… a natural landscape that thousands of visitors each year unavoidably damage. Should we be preserving this iconic piece of wreckage… or should we be focussing on protecting the natural landscape?

That's one I haven't heard about before. Have added it to the list. Chimp attacks are almost always quite awful - they're way stronger than most people realise!

Glad I could share something new about your part of the world!

Fascinating Horror

I lived in Iceland for three years and I'd never heard of this!

How about a video on the St. James Davis chimpanzee attack? St. James Davis was a racecar driver who, along with his wife LaDonna, owned a pet chimp named Moe. They tried raising Moe like a human child, but when Moe bit several people, he was taken to a nearby animal sanctuary. One day, when the Davises went to the sanctuary to visit Moe, a couple of unrelated chimps named Buddy and Ollie escaped from their enclosure and mauled both of them. Here's the Wikipedia page for it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._James_Davis_chimpanzee_attack
