Although her time was brief, Laika really did capture the hearts of people all over the world. You can still find her today in comics, in prints and pictures, mentioned in songs, and even referenced in films and on television.
She even seemed to make an impression on the scientists running the program that would ultimately end her life. Here's another (slightly chilling) quote from one of them, Dr Vladimir Yazdovsky, who took Laika home with him before her flight to meet and play with his kids.
"Laika was quiet and charming. I wanted to do something nice for her. She had so little time left to live."

I love it! It actually does a really good job of telling the story both in terms of detail and in capturing a little bit of what it must have been like for Laika
