Suggestions for new payment structure:

OK, so after end-of-December, I need a new way in which I reward Patrons.

Specifically, I can't do the $4 = 1 drawing request structure anymore because there are too many people and I simply don't have enough time. The see that the most drawing blog Patreons do something like "$5 = access to all old pics in HD"... but I don't want to wall off pics.

Some possible formats:

1. Up to me: Keep max tier at $4, and I simply just draw as many requests as I can, and if your request isn't drawn, tough luck, I'm fickle.

2. Randomizer: Keep max tier at $4 but make request fulfillment random through some kind RNG system.

3. Luxury slots: More expensive tier ($8 ~ $10?) with a limited number of request slots (10 ~ 15?) that would get fulfilled 100%. $4 Tier would vote on content of something else... maybe short comic strips?

That's all I've thought up for now. If you have other ideas or preferences, please give input.

Option 3 its probably the best ^^

Alma Vanilla

I don't think the randomizer will be permitted since I think Patreon implemented some rules against anything resembling a lottery but otherwise all good. I'm cool with paying more too. Price is based on demand after all!

DaVinci

It's a hard problem, and every avenue's going to have its downsides. I fear that the luxury tier would fill up quick and then never open, which would be a shame. I think option #1 might work as long as you were transparent about if a given request was likely to be taken up or not.

Null

i'd say #1 or #3 as Patreon don't allow raffle systems anymore so if you did do a raffle system you account would be suspended. for #1 i think it's only fair that you tell us whether or not we will be getting our request done by you or not for that month and if you do decide on #3 you should announce a date as well as what timezone you're in for when you release the luxury tier so that everybody has a fair chance at getting it instead of it being a case of you releasing the tier out of the blue with the people who were lucky enough to see it being the one who get that tier

Kara

#3, but you should price that tier on average for ACTUAL commisions

This is BB we're talking about here, he is probably going to do the futa zebragirl for the lulz, now that you dared him.

cn

I'm not a fan of #3, as the people lucky enough to get one will hold onto it for a long, long time. I'm not too sure about #1, since it'd just be a glorified version of tumblr asks, and given how almost none of mine were drawn, I'm not optimistic about it. #2 is probably the fairest option, but patreon doesn't allow for raffles, so I'm not sure how that will work out.

atelier

mix of 1 and 2 sounds fair, lets you pick out any ideas you really want to do while everything still has a chance to get done, I guess a 'luxury tier' idea for people w/ too much money could be to give priority in your normal commission queue w/o cannibalising it completely

j

I'm out sadly. I tried this and ended up paying $10 to stuck up artists who never delivered. I know you're not one of them but chances are the same will happen to me. Good luck tho.

Quu

Damn good luck figuring this out. 1 and 2 sound good to me. Only issue I have with 3 is people sitting on the slots for months and others not getting a chance to get in there (it'll likely get filled up fast, and often, i'm guessing). You got my $4 regardless.

Ceviche14

Why not a combination of #3 and #2? You can stick to the $4 tier to have your requests put in a pool of other random requests, but have the $10 tier guarantee your request is drawn to, but has limited slots.

Milli

What if you just did a certain number of requests per month based on who sends theirs in first? That way it's not based on who pays more, just based on whoever is fastest. Seems like the fairest way to me. Barring that, I vote #1 or #2.

F_rank

It's not like he can't put caveats on the tier lists. Just make it clear what he's not willing to draw.

MrHalfawake

I say #3. Im all for paying you a bit of extra cash for a pic. Maybe it sounds greedy of me but If im dropping cash Id like to have a bit more say in what Im paying for even if it's more money. I like seeing your art but I don't want to pay for someone else's fantasy.

MrHalfawake

#1. I support another artist who has an active suggestion box with monthly posts where people can put ideas in the comments, and that might work best for you. You seem to be motivated more by interest in an idea than by money so having the $4 tier be access to suggestions would work best. Some people might whinge about it but they're free to find another artist to support. As an aside Patreon doesn't allow raffle rewards tied to tiers, so you couldn't do option #2 anyway. If you do a limited sketch tier that's guaranteed fulfillment just remember that's GUARANTEED. If someone asks for their futa anthro zebragirl with hella piercings then you're shit outta luck. Or even if you just aren't motivated to draw in general. Having unlimited $10-$15 sketch slots is a recipe for getting swamped with work and while limited slots are a better option and lots of people do them, they're the kind of reward that can get sat on by someone eternally, rather than being a thing that swaps between mutiple people.

Minamoto Terumi

#1 for me, doing what you can

JujuJiru

Another option is change $4 to access to old stuff plus voting on polls. Then $20 for official commission tier

Elric Grasso

Could stick with a tier at 4-5 bucks where only people at that tier can suggest things for the RNG hat... But limit the number drawn per month so other stuff comes first.

Axel

Honestly 1 or 2 for me. It's the best way to ensure more people get some sort of input if that's what you're going for. Option 3 just ensures that a small number of people get to dictate what content the rest of us are paying for. Technically you can't do raffles according to patreon's rules but there are quite a few artists that do it and find ways to get away with it.

FoolyMagooly

I would say no limit and just make the tier more pricey. Like 15
