AEW Wembley Stadium announcement discussion

Last night on AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan's big announcement (with the help of Nigel McGuinness and Adam Cole) is their UK debut at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, August 27th for All In.

Tickets for AEW: All In London go on sale Friday, May 5 at 9am BST. Fans can pre-register now for early access to purchase tickets at http://ticketmaster.co.uk/AEWWembley

While AEW has received some questions about not going bigger for debuts in certain big markets (LA, Toronto), they did the opposite here and went as big as possible for their debut in the UK. This stadium can hold up to 90,000. It's the biggest risk they've taken since the first Arthur Ashe show was announced.

The pre-registry is a great idea to gauge interest and help determine what the initial setup should be. I would love to find out how well that is doing at some point soon. WWE does this often for their big shows. The biggest question I have is what will be considered a success for this show?

If the goal is to make as much money as possible, they would have to settle for a modest attendance number. If the goal is to put as many people in seats as possible then the key factor is pricing.

Many people complained about WWE's pricing for the Cardiff, Wales show. They could've sold that out in a half hour if tickets weren't so expensive. They still did a big paid number and it all worked out but they were also in the position to take that chance with pricing (and while that stadium was big, they could've hid a smaller paid attendance if they had to; it will be hard to do that in Wembley). Easy for me to say but if I were in charge, I would go for the biggest number possible and that means keeping tickets at an affordable level.

Lets go over the possible scenarios:

<20,000: Would be a bad look to do under 20K here.

20,000-25,000: Sets AEW attendance record but might look not-so-great in such a big stadium.

30,000-40,000: Maybe the most realistic expectation (lower to mid end of that range)? Anything around 40K would be really strong even if its only utilizing a chunk of the stadium.

50,000-60,000: Would be a huge success and look good on TV.

>60,000:  The dream scenario for the company. Nobody is really predicting 90K as that just sounds crazy to write at this point.

Again, pricing will be key. They will obviously load this show up as big as possible which might mean bringing in some outside names and throwing in whatever you've been holding back (Sting retirement match?). The card will unquestionably be their biggest ever. What are your thoughts on them going big with Wembley Stadium as their first date in the UK? What would be successful to you?

I can't wait to cover the presale which will tell us a lot!

This will be truly fascinating to watch develop and an exciting show to see! Good luck to you and counting all those seats!

What do you think the cheapest seats should be priced at. My opinion for all shows that aren’t a true sellout is price the best seats high but have very low cost tickets available. I wish AEW would do what WWE does and have $20 seats available.
