CRP Patreon Exclusive: “When Should You Retire?”

This is the makeup video for July 21, which I didn't make because I was sick.

CRP Patreon Exclusive: “When Should You Retire?”

Comments

I never want to retire. My paternal grandfather was a shepherd until he was 85. He also drank like a sponge, but still climbing trees to trim the branches and catch fruits. He only stopped because his heart started to fail and died when he was nearly 87. He would have lived and worked until 95 if he hadn't drunk so much.

I’ve been really wrestling with this. I started engineering school when I was 30. I wanted a nice cushy upper middle class life. Now. I want none of that. I hate school. I have never wanted or perused a “career”. I just need to find a way to turn what I actually enjoy into some kind of income. That would include restoring/modifying old trucks, off-road stuff, and just general adventure/exploring. Need to come up with my next move

Damn the irony of it all, I just announced my resignation on July 21st, 2021. Now, I am free to pursue what I really think is necessary, flipping houses! Fuck landlording, which is what I did 20 years ago. Fixer uppers here I come, Fix the fucker and flip it. People do not have time to fuck with a house. Too busy keeping the boss man happy.

Fantastic video. Perhaps the best you've put up, and I've watched every one of them. Came just in time I was making a crucial life decision. At 20, I finally escaped prison, thanks coach.

Heard my job will mandate the V@C soon. 18 years in. Might just call it quits and move to my family home in Mexico

So do it . i'am 28 ahd i have passive real-estate income that can make me "survive" . Work hard and do what you like and push for more .

This is possible only if you able to create a successful business, or make a big exit. Until than, you dependent on your state, or family. Or a boss.

More content please. I can listen to you all day son. Lol

Estoy trabajando en eso.

Thanks Coach- can you do a vid on the realities of retirement?

Finally a non political video

It feels so good to hear you say making that conscious decision at 19 was one of the best you made. I'm 20 years old, no college debt just living with my dad and working at a warehouse and I just started having that same mindset a few months ago.

Coach- I recommend you soften the language and make a version of this available on your free channel... the lesson is just too important. Most men and women don't realize this ever.

But how can you have any pudding when you don't eat your meat? You can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat!

Porphy's Attorney

thats golden, not having a boss meant not having someone to tell you how to live your life. You still have to work really hard but if you choose it before hand it will be much easier to live with till the end. Be financially literate, the friends youre talking about sure chased their dream but didnt figure out how realistically they can achieve it

Amen.

I know 4 friends who, "followed their passion". Two of them were musicians, one of them was a photographer, and one of them is a cinematographer. Among the two musicians, one of them teaches music class to K-6 children and hates his job. He is currently counting the days till retirement and earns around $70K/year. The other musician works at a music store, also hates his job since he is more salesman than musician. He is currently working toward a real estate license. The photographer had dreams of being a photojournalist or fashion photographer like Helmut Newton. He is currently making money shooting weddings and children's portraits. As for my lucky friend, the cinematographer, he works in west Hollywood filming made-for-TV movies for the Lifetime network. He shares a two bedroom apartment with three roommates and he is 42 years old. The whole idea of not having a boss is a fantasy. Even if you own a business you still have a boss. The term "boss" changes to either customers or investors. You are always going to be beholden to the people giving you money, always. I think is is better to find you niche rather than follow your passion. Find something you can do, that you are good at, that makes money and that you don't mind doing. Don't chase fantasies.

you really like those hats, huh? :)

As a 60 year old man, I agree with your point of view. Thank you for this video. Glad your feeling better. Please consider doing a video on your thoughts regarding what the world may be like when your children are in their twenties. This would be pure speculation of course, but may be a subject for your weekend call in program.

Thank you so much Coach. Hope you are feeling well already

Thank you, coach!
