To My Patreon Supporters

The month of March 2022 has been an utter disaster, insofar as my commitment to you.

To be blunt, I have failed you in my commitment to delivering consistent high-quality content.

For that, I am sorry. So in this post, I’m going to outline exactly how I will make it up to you.

For my $5 tier supporters, I am going to deliver a written essay every Wednesday at approximately noon EST. These essays will be extracts of a work-in-progress called ANTI-NARRATIVE, a book I am writing about this war in Ukraine.

Because of my failure to deliver content to the $5 tier during the month of March, I will try to catch up in terms of extracts from this work-in-progress. I have not worked out exactly how many pieces of content I failed to deliver during March. But moving forward, I will deliver the April content every Wednesday, and the March Makeup every Saturday until I’m all caught up.

Each Wednesday work-in-progress extract will be a minimum of 2000 words (about eight typed pages). I am doing this instead of video content because of course, during this war, I have not had access to my camera gear. In fact all I have access to is a three year old iPhone and a eight year old underpowered MacBook Air. So I will be making do with what I have—and hence why it will be written content.

For my $10 tier supporters, I am going to set up private discussion rooms after every public live stream that I do, so that I can take your questions and comments, live and in person. My public livestreams on my Gonzalo Lira channel will be about current events, and of course discussing the situation in Ukraine. Once I conclude these public livestreams on YouTube, I will set up these exclusive Patreon $10 tier Q&A sessions on a dedicated Telegram channel that you will receive an invitation to attend. (So of course, please download the Telegram app to your phone or computer, and set up an account; it is exceedingly easy, and there are YouTube tutorials explaining how it is done.)

These exclusive Q&A sessions for the $10 tier supporters will last no less than 30 minutes and no more than 45 minutes, and they will take place a minimum of four times per week. The recordings will be posted after the fact. I will figure out a way to get good questions, but initially, it will be on a “first come first served“ basis. I ask you all to please keep your questions or comments brief and to the point, so that as many people as possible have a chance to ask pertinent questions.

Now, why was I so remiss during the month of March?

Frankly, the last five weeks have been an emotional roller coaster that I am only now gaining any kind of control over. I have been unable to concentrate on any long-term task or goal, and I have been hyper focused on any scrap of news in order to understand what is going on. The livestreams that I have been doing have, in a very real sense, been the mental vomit of all the information that I am accumulating to help me navigate this war. Unfortunately, and it pains me to admit it, but over these past five weeks since the war began, I have been almost completely reactive, as opposed to proactive.

With this new month, it is clear that — war or no war — I have to get my shit together and establish a firm control over my life.

Hence why I am writing this, and spelling out my intentions with regards to my Patreon channel.

I am truly sorry that I disappointed you during the month of March 2022. But I hope that I can make it up to you with a content that I will be delivering from here on out.

If you have decided to stop supporting me because of my failures this past month, I’m sorry to see you go, but I understand completely and I don’t blame you. And if you have continue to support me during this very past bad past month, I think you, and I will try to live up to your regard for me.
