After a sound pounding through the first few pages, Derridevil lands a crippling blow, that Foucault's reading of Descartes was "naive," enough for Foucault to freeze him out for the next 20 years.

Thought this was going to become a Pills vs Matt episode at some point xD This was difficult but brilliant and extremely interesting. Please pass on my thanks to Erik for that amazing explanation of Derrida's intervention, it was really helpful. It's funny how at some point you described Foucault as straight forward or easy to understand, when Discipline and Punish is one of the hardest books I've ever read (although as someone without any philosophy degree of any kind is to be expected I guess).

Appreciated the connections to Spivak, Butler, subsequent limitations/criticisms, Foucault's later shifts, and questions of praxis. Was thinking of the "molar" just when Eric shouted that out haha. The capitulation to the terms of discourse by simply talking, being sucked into the idealist realm by again "talking" about materialism and praxis in specific historical terms, limits of challenging power from inside power; these are questions that have been lately on the mind again. So this was a timely listen. Thank you.
