Pill Pod 44 - Critical Race Hysteria (Exclusive)

This week we depart from the usual solemnities to diagnose the latest object of conservative hysteria: critical race theory. It's being banned from curricula, bounced around conservative media outlets, and kicking off the careers of some new fear-mongering pundits. But what actually is it?

Attached is Derrick Bell's lecture "Who's Afraid of Critical Race Theory?"

I feel like Victor needs to be aware that he uses the word normative a lot and in a way that makes his meaning unclear. It made me question if I actually understood the meaning of word normative but then I looked it up and it does mean what I understood it to mean and Victor is being unclear and he will drop that word in like every episode. God, I really do feel like that asshole correcting someone’s grammar pointing it out but I think it might help victor in terms of the clarity of what he expresses to be aware of it.

The ending bit with Deleuze and Baudrillard was hilarious because it really is within the realm of possibility for conservatives to focus on either as a reason to have a moral panic over after they get bored of CRT.

That'd be very hype; I know a post-Heideggerian negative theology guy with some interesting thoughts

that antonin scalia thing i had never heard before. what an insane ideological commitment. law is such a fucked liberal institution. i have a question for you guys though. do any of you know any theologians you get along with? for some of these group discussions, i think getting a theologian on the pod would round it out in a big way. cheers.

Thanks to some conservative federal judges, Robin Diangelo’s workplace ‘antiracism trainings’ provide employers with immunity from lawsuits filed under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

As a US citizen, someone told me we got taught US fan fiction, and I couldn't agree more with actually teaching the history of the country.
