I personally think this kind of narrative based theoretical mapping of a real world concept is the most affective way of getting someone to see something from a new perspective or consider new ideas/challenge old assumptions. there is room within these for more explanatory stuff and that would fit neatly into the narrative "exposition" and gives the reader in this case a kind of basic understanding of a differing perspective, and asks them to see this narrative world through a perspective that may challenge many of the underlying and mostly unconscious assumptions that we all carry with us each day.
