I don't get why liberals think conservatives are ever worth speaking to: they consistently have objectively terrible and ill-informed views on almost everything, and anyway, if in 2022 you're far right enough to be an American Republican, you're not that far from fascism. I understand that Matt has an academic fascination with the mentality of the RIght, but It looks like Victor just wanted the opportunity to complain repeatedly about "woke culture" because he couldn't say some bad words at uni, or because apparently he couldn't critique Native American philosophy like he wanted to. In any case, the difference between this content and what Pills and Erik have been giving us for the past month is stark af.

2022-05-18 01:24:30 +0000 UTCImagine thinking that liberal pedagogy's goal is to create revolutionary subjects and being this preoccupied with truth in 2022, especially when a little later he talks about how pedagogy is not and should not be value neutral. And it really says a lot about the epistemological state of conservative intellectuals when their reason for not being anticapitalist is "skepticism towards sprawling government bureaucracy" like that's the only left alternative to neoliberalism. Not to mention that no matter how educated conservatives are they still support brain dead policies like criminalisation of abortion, increasing the amount of police (despite ofc saying they're against "big government") and criminal punishment (despite studies showing for a long time that punishment and incarceration don't work).
