I’m surprised I haven’t seen you mention Anna Tsing anywhere. She’s probably the most famous living mushroom philosopher, I think you’d probably like “The Mushroom at the End of the World”

Rockwell Gulassa

Great video. Wish I had more to add, but I've been watching the new "Westworld" season and a few thoughts related to that show came up when I was listening to your video. Will try not to spoil, but taken in light of the previous seasons, the arch of the story I'm reading into the new season tracks with your explanation of the mycelial-like structure of capitalism and seems to extend that metaphor into a more literal expression. New season of WW is premised on a world where AI beings (whose production I think it would be fair to say arose in a version of capitalism not entirely different than what exists today) are able to control/direct nearly every part of the human experience (for the AI, it's a "perfect" world...yet a world whose perfection is obviously narrowed and possibly just a leftover concept or inheritance of the human makers). The AI beings created a parasite that has colonized the humans/makers. In a weird reversal, the AI reproduces the form (obviously) and apparent content of the former human owners/creators of the AI (so, a strange reversal of the made-in-our-image theme). Also, kind of interesting to think about the "parasitic" creation of the AI as just a further extension/development of the mycelial structure that, as you put it, "spored" the creation the AI's "perfect" world. Normally, i wouldn't share my half-baked thoughts, but you seemed insistent on a bit of input...so I'm giving it a go. Anywho, thanks for the thought-provoking video!
