Extremely rough concept sketch for the elder dragons. These are the prehistoric apex predators and most intelligent beings of Eleftherian's known history. Corn snakes are the main inspiration so a perfect little face ref is included; I enjoy the shape of their heads a lot!
Scale/feather pattern and color yet to be completely finalized but I have included a few yezwei pelt color schemes that I'm working with.

Random stuff so far about them:

Yezwei evolved from this species. Fjellhund are believed to have mixed with the elder dragons and both went extinct about the same time. Elder dragons extinction itself is shrouded in circumstantial mystery and a popular subject of Eleftherian-native races folklore and legends, especially popular among the human race after their arrival.

Feathers line their dorsal side and thick ventral scales serve as protection/heat retention for their internal organs and flexible spines. Mountain and tundra dwellers have thicker hides/feathers and smaller wings.

Average height is shown with 6ft human to compare.

They shed skin/growth steadily throughout the year but spring and autumn sees growth spurts.

Mainly solitary and territorial.

Excellent climber and tool user.

Tail spade is tough and used mainly as balance but also serve as defense against attack. Iridescence on spade's ventral side.

Large incisors for hunting and flexible jaws and necks to carry large amounts of fish.

Vocal cords capable of making a wide variety of sounds and speech.

Good alliances with most species. Strongest with the Rekailus race which will be discussed later.

Fish and invertebrate-centric diet occasionally turning to elk. Also snacks on root vegetables during autumn.
