Hey Ian, my question is a bit of a head-scratcher. Just how old is Sonic supposed to be these days? I know that since SA1 his official Sonic Channel bio lists him as 15 years old, tho technically you could argue that he’d be at least 16.5 by now with his birthday in Generations and the 6 month time skip in Forces. But in that very same game, Infinite calls out Eggman and straight up says that Sonic’s been defeating him “for DECADES.” Either this is just another mistranslation/localization issue and he was meant to say “years” or it suggests that Sonic is somewhere in his 20’s at least in order to be fighting Eggman for that long. To your knowledge, do you know if this is some attempt on SEGA’s part to “soft-retcon” Sonic and potentially other characters’ ages or is this just another case of looking too deeply into a throwaway line? Considering how Sega was looking for “a more mature-sounding Sonic” when they casted Roger, I wouldn’t be surprised if they wanted to age him up slightly, but what do you think?

You’ve talked about Star Fox before so I figured I could ask this. Why specifically do you think there’s so much hatred for Slippy Toad? People complain about him needing saved, but every character needs Fox to save them. It’s a game mechanic. Is it his voice? I’ve personally not had a problem with it. I always found Falco more annoying because he asks to be saved AND THEN complains that he could’ve handled it. Anyway, maybe I just want to hear you talk about Star Fox more.
