The California Weltgeist

Although we may have lost faith in ideas, let's see what happens when we use them anyway!
The whole time you are explaining your concept all I can hear in the back of my mind- like a radio left on in a vacant wing of a massive building - is Jello Biafra singing the chorus to βCalifornia Uber Allesβ π

Not finished with the episode yet, so maybe you mention it, but in case you donβt, Day of the Locust, Nathanael West. Captures for me California.

As with habit, explicit detail forges a sense of authenticity and can conjour an immortal. Replications of scripture empowers deities, and repetitions of labour byproduces wealth entities.
In California sequencing frames of time animate characters & worlds that can manifest beyond film, and repetitions of data impressions assemble intelligences.
Transhumanists want immortality but they're on a trajectory toward erasing the complexity at its foundation. Disembodiment is a cope. Many movements seek to actualize myths through genocidal erasure of complexity, but California may be ground zero to a cult that brings a real doomsday

I cannot really claim this. Matt Christman on his Cushvlog really explicates this.

California is the Christian concept of "Heaven on Earth" something that arose when apocalyptic Christianity died down. It's ingrained in the work of the West. It even figures into Marxism. Liberals are the ones who say "we have achieved heaven on earth!" Nothing but simulacra across thousands of years of this project. Disneyland the latest simulacra of this heaven. And like Pills said, capitalism sells it's disappearance as a commodity and image. Heaven is no capitalism. No competition. No insecurity. Jerusalem was always supposed to temper Athens, heaven was where there was no rich or poor. Already "communism" and it's goal is inscribed in the liberal ideal.

I currently live in California's Central Valley. It's a mostly agricultural region, not sure if we fit anywhere into the idea of California.
