Patron Feedback on Payment Adjustments
Added 2022-07-11 01:22:17 +0000 UTCHowdy all you fine n' lovely patrons.
We're looking into possibly adjusting our pledge model for Patreon. Currently it's a bit messy. We're set up to charge per creation, but only charge y'all once a week. On top of that:
- $5 Patrons can ask multiple priority questions. We ask y'all to show restraint, but we have no way to enforce it.
- $5 Patrons may be charged $5-20 per month depending on how their limits are set,
- $10 Patrons may be charged more, or less, for less content than $5 Patrons.
- Any future incentives or tiers are impossible to fairly pair with our Ko-Fi and YouTube supporters.
The newly proposed tiers would help us even things out across platforms, open up new opportunities for incentives, and more fairly charge both our patrons and our other supporters.
The new tiers would be based on a monthly, single charge system:
- $5/mo. - you get 1 Priority Question for the month
- $10/mo. - you get 2 Priority Questions for the month
- $15/mo. - you get 3 Priority Questions for the month
- $20/mo. - you get 4 Priority Questions for the month
All current Priority Qs would remain in the queue to be answered; we wouldn't apply this retroactively. If approved, we would apply these new tiers in August 2022.
We greatly value your support - morally and financially - and want to make sure everyone is getting the fairest shake. This would make it fair to everyone within our Patreon, fair to all our supporters outside of it, and fair to us for the work we do.
We didn't expect to have this level of success. (We honestly thought the original $5 tier would scare people off - HA!) It's thanks to all of your generosity that we need to reassess and update how we do things.
Or, if you all collectively hate the idea, we'll go back to the drawing board. Please vote in the poll and let us know!

I’ve only just started my patreon & this seems simple & fair to me & i doubt you’ll ever run out of questions at this point. I pledge to show support mainly but i think most people would think this sounds fine.
2022-07-12 16:07:36 +0000 UTCYeah, I absolutely think this change is the best way forward for you guys. My pledge caps at $5 per month and if someone is paying $20 per month then they absolutely deserve to have more questions answered. This new way is definitely fair on everyone. :D

2022-07-11 21:41:51 +0000 UTCI see! Makes perfect sense to me!
2022-07-11 17:53:31 +0000 UTC$5/mo sounds more than reasonable to me! Be more than happy to up my pledge cap from $3 to $5 monthly.

2022-07-11 14:08:18 +0000 UTCThis isn't really for those who ask multiple questions in one (generally those are at least related, and if they aren't I try to break them up,) but more for the priority folks who like to load up a few dozen questions into their queue. Which, we appreciate having the job security, it has gotten a bit unwieldy over time!
2022-07-11 10:22:20 +0000 UTCSounds reasonable. I don’t mind these changes in the slightest.

2022-07-11 07:00:02 +0000 UTCSounds perfectly reasonable. To be frank, one question per $5 was how I was already assuming it was intended to be. I always thought it was a bit odd when somebody would submit a question but in reality it was like, a dozen questions rolled into one. Not that I was upset about it, but it did seem a bit like people taking advantage of the system. More firmly establishing what the limits are, as well as providing a way for folks to still ask multiple questions in a month, is a good thing!
2022-07-11 04:07:07 +0000 UTCEhhhhh... I get the logic of what you're doing here, and admittedly it is a much fairer system. I can't say I'm keen on paying $20 per month just to keep getting my questions answered weekly though. If you go with these changes I'll probably stay at the $5 tier or possibly scoot up to $10. Possibly.
2022-07-11 03:22:21 +0000 UTCYes, which was what intended originally, and is how it functions on Ko-Fi.
2022-07-11 02:12:59 +0000 UTCMaybe I’m a bit confused, but it seems like the new system would mean you’d be paying $5 per question?

2022-07-11 01:40:35 +0000 UTCI think this is a lot fairer to non-supporters and would ensure that you don't have to make 3/4 of your Q&As priority ones to get through them all. I'm in favour.

2022-07-11 01:32:07 +0000 UTCI think 5usd per question is fair. I usually don’t have much to ask. These are hard economic times and I know you gotta eat too
