2025-04-26 12:41:49 +0000 UTCMy son is 11, he is autistic and for years I kept telling doctors- in relation to his neurodivergent behaviors- “Well I do that so, he’s fine.” However he was nonverbal until seven- part of that was an airway issue that nearly killed him when he was 18 months old- right when language was forming- his throat surgeries it shut down his attempts at speech. Between my own neurodivergence and his autism we often transcend dialectics when Mom just cannot understand his anger or pain at the confusion he experiences with her instructions.
