Works cited are Fink's Lacanian Subject (ch. 5) and A Clinical Introduction to Lacanian Psychoanalysis (ch. 10).

Also, do u think vis a vis “ Responsibility” in Lacan’s radical ethical sense, which becomes the difference between the therapeutic and the analytical experience of anything close to something like a ‘cure ‘ he echoes, not as influence, but as similar structural concern, Levinas? And also Derrida’s schtick on ‘response’- responsibility’?If u know what I am referring to. And also, from a Lit Crit angle… Kafka’s ethics? And for that matter Nietzschean ethics of Eternal return of the same? In a word … it is also the way out of primordial condition of need into Desire…. Also seems to me ‘Back to the Future’ is precisely not traversing the fantasy, but turning a possible traversal into a fantasy... and the most totalizing Oedipal fantasy there can be. Agree w Eric’s explanation of ‘temporal paradox’ however.

2025-11-06 16:10:51 +0000 UTCI'm starting to think that positioning yourself as a Lacanian analyst is like positioning yourself as the Libertarian King of The Free World. It makes no fucking sense. And yet becoming an object of desire for the other is what I'm told makes a good student/teacher relationship. Students who want to please me are more intentional in my classroom.
