The fairytale is about how when the mother realised that the son had no feelings except for hunger, she gave him all she could to satisfy his hunger, even her own limbs. But not even that could make him feel full. Yet when she embraced, for the first time he felt her warmth and for the first time he felt something other than hunger. So he told her ‚mom you‘re so warm‘ And that‘s when the mother realised that all this time she thought he felt empty because of his hunger and was solely focused on that, that she forgot to give him what a child needs the most, which is attention, warmth and love. I guess it resonated with gang tae because he might have also felt like his mother did a lot for them, but he never or rarely ever got to feel her warmth and got her attention, and now it’s too late. Also, I wouldn’t say munyeong is crazy. She might act crazy sometimes, but she is just broken. Her father choking her was clearly her reliving a very traumatic experience that deeply scarred her. The reason why she was laying there laughing was because laughter is used as a defense mechanism used to guard against overwhelming anxiety. Laughing often diminishes the suffering associated with a traumatic event. And after she was probably so overwhelmed by emotion that she aimlessly wandered around to clear her head and be able to deal with the emotions she is feeling. Trust me y‘all this shit is even deeper than you think.
