What's your favorite show and why?

Comments

Recently, from the 90s live action franchises; I have been able to watch Angel on DVD this year and I'm at early season 2. I didn't see the series weekly as a kid but it is awesome to watch now the I own it. The stuff from 90s action like Xena/Hercules, Chuck Norris, and Tokusatsu in American remake from Saban was all the glory to me for Martial Arts Fanatsy! Tales From The Crypt and other Horror shows get an honorable mention to me!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my favorite for being equal parts badass & comedic B-TV and profound emotional drama.

Defo legion atm probably one of the most ambitious and authentic shows I've watched despite being owned by marvel. Noah Hawley finds a way to shift primary focus from the aspect of "superpowers" to explore a wide variety of deeper themes and the balance in surrealism and realism(also credited to Hiro Murai) makes it so engrossing to watch. Even though the third season didn't receive as much appreciation compared to the first two it probably had the most profound effect on me compared to anything I've seen in visual arts. Although Mindhunter, Top boy and True detective are also up there too.

My favorite show ( besides Twilight Zone & Twin Peaks ) is MTV’s Daria. It’s a really hilarious animated spinoff show, which, imo, is better than Beavis & Butthead. I love the side characters, Daria & Jane’s Friendship, the humor & the drama. I feel like I could rewatch this show over & over again, & still enjoy it.

Undead Hope

My favorite show overall would have to be The Sopranos! From the moment the opening credits for The Sopranos started rolling, I knew I was watching something unlike anything I’d ever seen before. I liked it, but was I only catching the parts that appealed to me as a 10 year old like the violence and T&A at the Bada Bing? I decided to re-watch the first season with a TV-watching palette that has since matured so I could recognize if The Sopranos was indeed the “good stuff” rather than just being over hyped like some people would describe the show. Decades later, the first season of The Sopranos not only holds up but it has aged so well for gods sake following its debut the show brought in over ten million views per week which was unheard of for a tv show at the time! Very glad I decided to re-watch it and truly appreciate it for the substance and not just being an enthralled 10 year old! Some other shows I enjoy would be M*A*S*H, Seinfeld and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

My favorite TV show is a tie between Hannibal and The Americans. I love The Americans due to the intricacy of characterization, complexity of themes, and verisimilitude put into nearly every aspect of the show’s production. All of this is coupled with a thrilling, visceral, and emotionally poignant score composed by Nathan Barr and the harrowingly layered performances inhabited by Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys respectively. I adore Hannibal for many of the same reasons I enjoy The Americans. However, what I appreciate the most about Hannibal over The Americans is the sheer audacity of its execution in all aspects of its production, from the script to the cinematography and visual effects. It is undoubtedly one of the most experimental, atmospheric, and darkly humorous shows ever composed for the small screen.

Eugene Cumberbatch

Dark. I don't want to say much because it's one of those shows where the less you know going in, the better. But it just has the right tone, builds suspense in the right way. Also has no real significant plot holes, and as someone that's studied physics, doesn't violate it (other than 1 thing, which you have to do for a SciFi story).

I live and breath Seinfeld! The humor fits me like a glove! I’m one of the most DIE-HARD Seinfeld fans you can find. I can probably name almost every single character. I probably seen every episode at least 10 times. Lol

Tony Moro

Such a great show, one of my top 10. Rod Serling was a genius.

Oskitello

One of my top 10. What an ending :)

Oskitello

One of my top 10. The most climatic show for me. Brilliant score by Angelo Badalamenti. Wish they produced season 3 back in the 90s.

Oskitello

Omg 100 percent agree

Thiers a billion answers. Lol. Ill say recently, a UK show called skins. It got me in the feels. Mix of drama and comedy , teenage angst, tackling serious issues, bittersweet, depressing , and dosnt always have a happy ending. Sorry im bad at describing it. Lol. It took every thing my so called life did to the next level.

Six Feet Under. I'm not sure which one is my favourite, this or Breaking Bad but I go with SFU. This show had probably the most emotional impact on me. Great mix of drama, black comedy and surrealism. Best ending ever.

Oskitello

The original Twilight Zone. Rod Serling was way ahead of his time. Possibly the most influential show ever. With episodes like 'He's Alive' w/ Dennis Hopper that are still relevant today.

Jmas85

Arrested Development (the original 3 season run). Just comedic gold, endlessly clever and quotable writing delivered by a cast of some of the most hilarious people around (so hard to pick a favorite, but it's probably Jessica Walter as Lucille.) There was a certain magic to the first 3 seasons, where they could throw anything at the wall comedically and it would stick. Lightning in a bottle that they could never quite replicate in the post-revival seasons.

Andrew Reed

My favorite show, my obsession, and I'm on my fifth watch of it currently. XD

The Sopranos. Gandolfini gives a towering performance. It tells a wildly entertaining story about the mob and family while also capturing a sense of the decline of America. All of these years later, I don’t think anything beats it, and nothing has really touched it since Mad Men.

Jim Barnes

Twin Peaks. It's one of the most unique shows ever made. It's odd combination of melodrama, surrealism and mystery is one that has yet to be replicated in any medium in my opinion. I can watch it over and over again and never stop loving it.

Tyler Shobe

All in the Family. It was way ahead of its time and is still 100% relevant today. Before TV censorship made future sitcoms sugarcoated, this show had balls dealing with heavy topics such as politics, race, sex, and violence while still having some of the most hilarious writing and timeless characters.

Wolfman Brandon

Mr Robot. It made me emotional - has great characters and good twists and always took risks on the way it was filmed. It is different and i love it.
