Added 2020-10-13 18:40:27 +0000 UTCI watched The Ring last night for the first time in years. I'm gonna go ahead and just make it a review for next week. But I was really surprised by it. I wondered if anyone else has seen it in recent memory. If so, what are your thoughts about it now compared to when it was released?

2020-10-13 20:22:45 +0000 UTCI've only seen the Japanese original Ringu. One of my favorite 90s horror films. It has a raw and subtle tension that American horror lacks. From what I've seen of the American version, it looked more gimmicky with the camerawork and cinematography.

2020-10-13 18:44:44 +0000 UTCWeirdly as a kid I thought it was sort of just a dumb horror movie but I also wasn't that into the genre at the time. Now I really appreciate it for its bleakness and tension. And it also has a really solid heart to it which I think is an essential quality to a great horror movie. I like it a lot actually.
