REBECCA (2020)
Added 2020-10-23 06:56:51 +0000 UTCHas anyone seen the new Netflix version? I have a soft spot in my heart for the Hitchcock film adaptation, even if it is quite flawed. So, I'm debating watching it.

2020-10-25 09:06:29 +0000 UTCHaha I went ahead and watched it with skepticism. You are right about it all! It was total shit! A completely indulgent adaptation. I gotta review it now though. It got me all worked up. XD

2020-10-25 09:05:40 +0000 UTCThe Netflix version is very bland. I haven't seen the Hitchcock one, but I've read the novel, and this one definitely doesn't do it justice - it's just people in pretty costumes in a very average adaptation of a classic. Armie Hammer seems particularly miscast.

2020-10-23 19:42:08 +0000 UTCI saw the original last year for the first time and I liked it a lot. Just watched the new version so you don't have to. It has nothing of atmosphere, mystery and eeriness of Hitchcock version. Not to mention the performances, nowhere near as good as Joan Fontaine, Laurence Olivier and Judith Anderson. No chemistry between main characters. Ending is meh. Waste of time.
