Added 2021-07-15 22:43:17 +0000 UTCI'm not looking forward to it but....I'm gonna check out Space Jam 2 tomorrow. What are your opinions on the original if you've seen it. If you are part of my generation...it likely impacted your childhood tremendously. But...really only as a nostalgic zeitgeist type of pop entertainment.

As a young young kid I loved Space Jam because of MJ, Bill Murray and Bugs. I have a lot of Jordan sneakers so it’s nostalgic for me. Is Space Jam art? fuck no lmao. I heard Space Jam 2 is full of product placement so I’ll pass , pun intended.

2021-07-21 19:40:00 +0000 UTCWatched the original "Space Jam" as a 15 year old, found it to be total horseshit back then, don't care about it at all.

2021-07-16 18:30:35 +0000 UTCIt needs far more than music to save it. XD I actually thought Lebron was funny in Trainwreck.

2021-07-16 17:59:59 +0000 UTCOh right, I still have fond memories of Space Jam and I always watched it whenever it was on growing up. I only learned later as an adult that MJ was a bit of a prick, but he has an x-factor that will still charm your pants off. He's the Michael Jordan of being Michael Jordan. It's probably my childhood bias, but despite the accolades, you can't really say that about LeBron.

2021-07-16 06:28:16 +0000 UTCWell, as a 90s kid I loved MJ and the Bulls. It was the first or second movie I saw on the big screen when I was 9 years old - the other one being one of the Jurassic Park sequels. I then picked up collecting basketball cards and Looney Tunes played a big part on Cartoon Network helping me learn English. Now I'm still an NBA fan, but slowly became a Dallas Mavericks fan due to them signing the first Estonian to play in the league. It's a special feeling to love a sports team.

2021-07-16 06:22:56 +0000 UTCI feel exactly the same about the first one especially as someone who grew up playing basketball. I have pretty low expectations for the second since the trailers look bad and LeBron was atrocious in Trainwreck. But your personal fav Hans Zimmer was supposed to do the score and then was replaced, so maybe it'll be good.

2021-07-15 23:23:54 +0000 UTCMan. Talk about completely misrepresentating the Looney Tunes. I didn't understand til my adult years but the original shorts had a comedic edge to them reminiscent of Howard Hawks and Preston Sturges comedies like Bringing up Baby and The Lady Eve. Also had sharp satirization of Hollywood stars, American history, and pop culture. Space Jam was a pure marketing ploy even down to a tv commercial director directing it which to date is his only movie and it shows because it is so amateurishly directed plus all of the spirit or wit that makes the Looney Tunes special was replaced with grade school level storytelling and humor. Chuck Jones even ripped it apart saying Porky Pig would never say he wet himself so if any moron thinks you're crazy for not liking it, tell them the original creator of these characters didn't like it either.

2021-07-15 23:22:52 +0000 UTCEven at the young age I saw the movie, I knew it was some kind of a corporate synergy cash grab. I just didn’t have the words to say it was. At around the same time the movie came out, McDonald’s released these collectible cups where they paired a Looney Tunes character with an NFL star. Emmitt Smith had Bugs, Dan Marino had Daffy, etc. So I knew that the movie was just a big screen version of that. But it was mildly entertaining. Not as good as the cartoons themselves. I’d rather watch Bugs mess with Daffy or Wile E. Coyote smash into a wall trying to get the Road Runner than see them play off of Michael Jordan, who acts about as well as he plays baseball. If only it were Bill Murray who had been the one dragged down into Looney Tunes World instead. That would have been a cooler movie.
