2020-12-04 06:23:18 +0000 UTCHere's my Christmas movie unpopular opinion. (Please don't put my eye out.) I don't think "A Christmas Story" is actually a Christmas movie. I think it's a coming-of-age movie that just happens to be set at Christmastime. Its themes aren't at all the same kind of messages about "peace and goodwill" or "the importance of family" that I associate with Christmas movies. "A Christmas Story" could be structured around Ralphie's birthday instead of Christmas, and it would make absolutely no difference to the characters or the story...
