Very good, much better than a movie you reviewed last time. I like the ending a lot. SPOILER She was dead long before but ultimately she turned it to something meaningful. Sad but satisfying.

2021-01-18 16:01:06 +0000 UTCI thought it was brilliant and really got a good grasp on the tone once it referenced Night of the Hunter not once but twice. As crazy as the third act is I thought the satire and tragedy of it all was well balanced. Not perfect definitely rough around the edges but the director should have a bright future, it’s certainly a solidly made film that looks fantastic and has fascinating performances across the board.

2021-01-18 16:00:56 +0000 UTCI found the contrast between the darkness of the revenge plot and the bubblegum rom com elements to be pretty important. Admittedly I thought it was weird initially but it eventually made sense to me considering the movie as a whole without spoiling things.

2021-01-18 15:46:49 +0000 UTCI liked it a lot. Carey Mulligan is amazing and is definitely in the running for my favorite performance of last year. She also has great chemistry with Bo Burnham who I always love seeing. The comedy is pretty jet black at times but I still found myself laughing a lot. I really liked what it had to say about rape culture and I felt it did a good job of getting a bunch of different sides and had more to say than, "Sexual assault is bad," which would be a pretty boring statement honestly. I'll be really curious about how you feel about the way things wrap up. I'm still not sure how I feel and probably won't until I see it again.
