It can be very beneficial, such as the Gabby Petito case where various people on the Internet pieced together her timeline and locations through posts and helped lead investigators to the discovery of her body. But, as we all know, social media can lead to horrible outputs of misinformation, conspiracy-mongering, and cyber bullying, all done by people who don’t have all the information and evidence to a given case. Either way, there’s a weird immediacy to these nationally televised murder/missing person stories that wasn’t there before.

They keep getting worse with abusing censorship and demonitization on both small and large scale content creators for the most ridiculous reasons. One creator I'm subscribed to has been unfairly penalized and is currently working on leaving YouTube for good in favor of Locals.com where it has free speech forums and you can make videos and posts for financial supporters only if you want. I suggest at least taking a look and see if it's something you'd be willing to do.
