Any Dance Enthusiasts?
Added 2021-09-28 22:38:18 +0000 UTCHoly crap ya'll....I was watching the Swan Lake Odette solo recently with Misty Copeland of all people. I've never been a fan of her dancing or her style but wow....this was perhaps the most glaringly flawed performance by a professional I have seen. Her posture, her sloppy footwork, poor technique. It was shocking. This is not professional level of dancing, nor does she have the right kind of body line to play Odette, just on a superficial level. It's a very specific carriage and movement required for that role. But we must glorify her talents to extremes because she is a woman of color? She seems like a nice person and of course I do not want to slam her in that sense, because I don't know her. It has less to do with her personally and more to do with the clout built around her. But to me it's insulting to use someone as a poster child for a highly respected art form when they have so many glaring issues in their technique. Not a good look for American Ballet Theatre. I'm very against the whole trendiness of diversity currently as people know, because it reinforces racism as the pendulum swings too far. But if it's that important to people to exploit race in this fashion...find someone of color who has the ability to take on this kind of role. I know at least a good handful of ballerinas of color, who are far more talented than Misty. But...then again....ballet is naturally more of a European art form. If you want greatness...go to Russia. Watch the Bolshoi. At least it's proper dancing. I dunno about you but...I don't care what color you are...I just want to see great performance.

She has great jump technique and speed. But clearly has no motivation or confidence.

But, as a skater, she's pretty bad. π¬π¬ She should walk away from skating and get into fitness modeling instead, do some cool dance moves for her routines.

If they didn't fall for it, the media would have no power or influence and possibly not as much smug arrogance.
