Stuck in my head!

Today on bad film scores stuck in my head....it's "Davy Jones" from the Dead Man's Chest soundtrack. I have no idea why. I once was a dancer, and some other dancers I knew used the piece to perform. But that was 15 years ago. I hated it then and I hate it now. XD Same Hans Zimmer shit....trying to be enchanting and haunting...but it's the most basic, cookie-cutter, minor-chord melody that feels heavy and depressing as it becomes more and more overwrought. It's like a second-rate Danny Elfman track. Weird because...I rarely get Zimmer in my head. What about you guys? I hope you have something lovely like a Jerry Goldsmith score in your head instead to make me jealous. XD

I've heard rumor that Paramount Plus will begin streaming The Motion Picture Director's Cut (released on DVD in 2001) in January. This version, although a little longer, is a much better film as Robert Wise took the time to cut it how he wanted. The '79 version was so rushed that the print was still drying on way to the premier (where W. Shatner fell asleep during the showing). It was a nightmare shoot to begin with, the most expensive movie to produce at the time.

It's by far the best Batman theme. Shirley Walker struck gold with it.

Man...that's one of those movies that is so nostalgic for me. I was literally just watching a scene from that earlier today. :)

Deepfocuslens

Some do, but overall they do tend to be either uninspired, or minimalistic in tone.

Goood choice! I always felt the original film was a major slog, yet aesthetically it got a lot of things right in a way the other films didnt. And the music for sure by Goldsmith is a great example of that.

Deepfocuslens

I still haven't heard it, but I'm excited to!

I'm digging the new Jonny Greenwood score from Spencer. I don't really care about the royals but any excuse for Greenwood to make new music is a gift I'll take.

Illia's Theme from Star Trek The Motion Picture (composed by J Goldsmith) frequently goes through my head. Such a lovely piece.

I've had La La Land's soundtrack burned into my brain since I first saw it, particularly Mia and Sebastian's Theme and Another Day of Sun. Never gets old.

Wolfman Brandon

That's the last Pirates movie I saw. Haven't seen any since, didn't seem to make much sense, haha. But i also saw it with a huge grouo of people who all dressed up, and made a ton of noise. So, maybe I should give it another shot.

Also, modern films don't seem to have memorable scores anymore. Or maybe I'm not paying attention.

Now I have the Superman (1978) theme playing! My head decided to be nice, today.

In my opinion: Dead Man's Chest is an underrated film.

Lately I've had Nirvana's Something's In The Way tue version from The Batman being played on a loop lately

Oh man, the Animated Series theme is incredible. Conroy is still the best Batman. Keaton is the best live action Batman, so far.

Jestergambit

Damn you! haha Real Danny Elfman! XD I'm actually not that into that theme even if it has a cool effect, though it is the best live action Batman theme by far. I'm just such a fan of the animated series theme by Shirley Walker.

Deepfocuslens

Haha, I have the Batman (1989) theme in my head!
