Ow, my eyes
Added 2021-12-02 09:02:32 +0000 UTCFinally finally finally...I saw Lux Æterna by Gaspar Noe. I'm still in the post ecstasy phase of it. As in....just saw it like 20 minutes ago. haha But the last few minutes of the film, quite the experience.....my eyes and head are aching. >< Gonna sit with it a while before I express coherent thoughts on it. But in the meantime...if you've seen it, let me know what you thought. This is one I've been excited about. Would like to discuss...

2021-12-03 21:27:54 +0000 UTCI really liked it, but I do agree that it felt like a less refined exercise compared to Climax. I wish it had been longer and more ambitious. I also think that with Noe...he has been known to shock, yet somehow he has found himself confined by those limitations to a degree. He's turned the "edgy" aspects of his work into a bit of a formula. I would like to see him break out of that a bit. But...I did like it, and I have a lot of feelings on it, particularly the ending.

2021-12-03 21:25:25 +0000 UTCI've had a couple versions of it from Europe. But I think you can find it now online if you do some digging.

2021-12-03 21:25:05 +0000 UTCI hate every show or film I've seen that caused me literal physical pain. The last thing I want from watching something is a headache.

2021-12-02 20:11:59 +0000 UTCI watched it a little while ago and I really really liked what it did technically with the split screen but it rang pretty hollow for me. It felt like more of an exercise that he'd eventually refine with Vortex. I think it's worth the experience as a Noe fan but definitely a one and done movie for me.
