lol...here are some stills from a homework assignment I had in college 13 years ago. After watching the latest Macbeth, I couldn't help but be reminded of it. The assignment was to direct a scene from any Shakespeare play, and interpret it anyway we want, so long as the dialogue remains the same. I was a lazy student so...I recorded the scene on my phone and had my younger brother do the "To be or not to be" speech from Hamlet. Also...I didn't feel like coming up with a concept, so I just made it black and white, and added some Jonny Greenwood and Herrmann scoring in there to give it an unnerving and brooding mood. We also had to do a little write-up explaining our POV and why we chose our interpretations. I basically said that the black and white minimalism allows the words and timeless nature of the themes to be showcased properly. Utter bullshit...I was feeding my professor pretentious nonsense in the hopes that he would buy it. Turns out he did. Got an A on it. Not proud of it. >< But yeah, with that in mind....review for Macbeth will be made public soon. ;)
