2025-01-28 17:43:45 +0000 UTCHad the same issue with Smile 2 when I watched it in theaters, but I on my second watch a few weeks ago I remember appreciating them more. Especially knowing the tension behind the performances (with the backup dancers, family, herself, etc.) gave those scenes some more weight and impact for me, cool contrast with the rest. Still, could see why others would find them a bit too long or uninteresting.

2025-01-26 19:24:22 +0000 UTCBy the way I just realized 2024 was the year of the half-assed musical: Emilia Perez, Mean Girls, Joker 2, Trap, Smile 2, Maria, Mufasa, and Moana 2. (I liked Smile 2 overall, but the music numbers were kind of unnecessary IMO)

This movie pissed off anti-trans bigots AND the trans community, that’s absolutely wild. And the director even pissed off the Hispanic community. Oh and theater people who like good musicals. I’d love to see a review
