Fuck Yeah, Doctor Who - S12E03 & 04 - Orphan 55 & Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror

The real orphan was the friends we made along the way.

What really struck me odd about Orphan 55 is the way the episode treated Bella (the daughter/terrorist): she is the one responsible for the virus getting in, which means she is directly responsible for all the deaths also. And she wired the whole thing to explode. So everyone, particularly including the Doctor, treating her normally I find absurd! Its entirely out of the Dr's character to not call out and try to stop terrorists so it seems to me that the only possibility is that Bella was made a terrorist last minute, so much so that the script was approve before anyone read it or even thought about it.

I agree with Mike that Orphan 55 was pretty good with an eh denouement. The story was honestly kind of filler, but the cast was on absolute top form and they've always been the best thing about this era so I loved that the script stepped back a bit to let them shine.

The scorpion queen reminded me if the spider queen

Is he mental this episode was crap but I still agree that bad dr who is still fun in a way

A question I had was "why would you have a fire burning in the background whilst you went on about how low oxygen the environment was you were in"? The scorpion face was so reminiscent of the big red spider face from The Runaway Bride (?). Edit - yes, that's it. The Racnoss! Thanks Dan. Hustle and The Good Place and Spaced and The Simpsons mentions, ticking off many great series this week!

The next episode of Doctor Who is 'Fugitive of the Judoon' , I assume mainly because 'Prisoner of the Judoon' was already an episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures

I've noticed you don't really bring up the gallifrey base ratings much anymore, is there a reason for that? I found it kinda interesting that for Orphan 55 the spread was pretty flat between 0-8 with smallish peaks at 7 and 3. Kinda shows how bland the episode was that it didn't polarise the forum in any way at all.

Matt missed a tit and he hasn't thanked me for showing him where it is. :(

I liked the Tesla episode. I'm glad they finally got back to portraying historical figures in depth. Unlike the horror they did to the Honourable Ada. "There are some situations where the only rational response is to lose control of your bowels." -- Ash, A Secret History; Mary Gentle

The Doctor always talks to aliens and sorts out the problem. There was a solution where the humans created the CO2 and the natives created the oxygen. They dangled it in front of us and then completely ignored it. We had two parent-child relationships and they had absolutely nothing to do with the plot. The planet was called Orphan so there must have been a trope there somewhere at some point. But that means that the humans must have reconciled with the natives, and that didn't happen. I did get the child wanting to destroy everything her mother loves, because Mom doesn't love her. And this fits the humans vs. natives so so well. Why didn't we get this plot?

The only reason I can see for not saving them is that by saving them she disrupts the fixed event of them dying, therefore, the timeline becomes a fixed event and the earth will always become an orphan planet

Very disappointed that my fellow comrades have forgotten about starship UK, and the emoji robots

I'm with Mike in terms of Orphan 55. For me it's been a 1/4 strike rate so far.

Sisters of Plenitude are called Catkind, they are the most scariest things on Doctor Who, at least for me; And that including the Clown in The God Complex.

Thanks to my fucked sleeping pattern I can listen to this straight away😂😭
