Happy Monday! Here are some words!

09:10 I'm assuming that was a Lil Dicky reference :P

Narmatonia

So, I've only recently joined as a patreon, and upon hearing that this holiday was in one of your vlogs, went back and watched it, and just after dave the iguana, i got this strange feeling to "Vote LAN Party"....

Elysia Caelum

I actually went to Xcaret a few years ago, it was fun but my sandles were blistering my ankles.

The loot boxes on ac are totally not needed there is zero reason to by them wish they'd fuck off with them its making a great game look cheap

Andrew Bassett

Oh, and about being happy with what you have... that's why you should ignore politicians and journalists, who BOTH thrive on making you discontented.

Felice Enellen

Dan, if you'd like someone with a fairly positive outlook on the games they play, and probably largely because he tends to play early versions and indie stuff, I'd recommend taking a look at Randomise User. I watched a bunch of his Rimworld, Starbound, and 7D2D stuff and quite enjoyed it. I liked it because I was just watching someone explore and discover and _play_ and not analyze and criticize. I <3 guys like TotalBiscuit or Jim Sterling for the outrage and the drama, but I need about 90% of things to be more like your FO4 playthrough or the stuff I'm recommending above. It's like food... bitter works, but it has to be balanced with a bunch of savory and sweet.

Felice Enellen

LOVE IT

What’s your favourite Robbie Williams song?

iwan williams

Thanks for saying what you did about addictions. I had a very similar experience with candy crush – when I realized that I was ignoring my infant son because I wanted to get a few more combos… It had to go (the game, not my kid)

WC the Comedian

What is your opinion of Activision's new patent involving micro-transactions.

That title triggers me

Patreon player skips. Download podcast instead. Hear him mention said show. Now look like an idiot.

I really like go mental that just appeared by Robbie Williams

fieryaleeco

I followed on the map discussion on Google maps, those places look so cool

Simon Paffett

Pretty sure I read that Dippy's just off on tour and she's coming back afterwards

Tom Chaney

Is there any possibility that you would do a Food of Nerd Cubed series similar to Dad Cubed?

Hey Dan, did you ever watch Hospital People on BBC1? Ift was a show full of Tom Bins characters including Ivan Brackenberry.

For my pointless story about random wild animals, I live in New Zealand so we've got basically nothing that's even remotely threatening. We've got some pretty awesome birds and stuff but most of them are unfortunately stuck in nature preserves because people thought introducing predators was an awesome idea and now a lot of them are endangered or extinct. So when I went to Japan about 12 years ago, I had two wee encounters. One was like Dan's, where I was at a remote village in the middle of nowhere and a bunch of wild monkeys were casually wandering down the opposite side of the street towards me. The other was when I was biking home from school and saw what I thought was a bit of rubbish on the ground and kinda swerved to avoid it. And then it darted into the bushes. Nope, not a bit of rubbish. Was a wild snake. So that was pretty neat.

Christopher Kennard

They're minerals, Marie!

Tommy Lyons

when Dan describes the chair you are sitting on, down to the colour

Wow you've changed a lot. I remember a few years ago you would have told a fan to fuck off if they met you xD Although I do remember your bad experience, so that's understandable.

Qwerty-Space

I should really visit London

Craig (CraigUntlNytTym) Penfold

I’m liking the direction that the podcast is going. It feels more personal to Dan and i feel like we can get to know Dan as Dan rather than NerdCubed. Keep it up Dan!

Wayne Chan

I love this insight into Dan rather than NerdCubed. I've never been more happy to throw my money at someone monthly.

I very much enjoy the podcast and it makes my Monday or Tuesday commute much more enjoyable. I had an idea for another podcast that i'd enjoy listening to, so I thought i'd pitch it and hope you use up even more of your time making content for us! I very much enjoy hearing you listening to you discuss television shows but generally it's isolated to a small number of shows (Star Trek / Dr. Who etc) When you spoke about Dr Horrible last week, it reignited my love for it and made me rewatch it and compare your thoughts to how I felt about it. A shorter 20 - 30 minute podcast in which you announce to the community an episode of a specific show in advance, so the community can watch the episode and then hear you break it down. I think the snapshot view into a specific show as well as hearing your thoughts on it will be both educational and entertaining. The potential to spread new shows for people to get into as well as allowing for the podcast to lead into a discussion as opposed to a one way conversation could be a great addition I think!

As someone with an addictive personality your talk on addiction really struck a chord. Right now the main addiction i'm battling is food addiction right now, i'm trying to keep myself busy and focused on other things which seems to be at least somewhat effective, and as a result it's allowing me to funnel my creativity into projects and start to produce things that make me feel like i'm spending my time more effectively than I have done in the past. Killing two birds with one stone. Unfortunately the weight isn't really coming off yet, so still plenty of work to be done.

Reece Fowler

I very much welcome this positive attitude sentiment Dan’s going for. Post uni I ended up back in my fast food job from my teens unable to get any other kind of work, I was a negative person then but I got depressed and that compounded that, until I struggled to see the positives. Since then I’ve moved into working in care, it’s a job I love, and it has brought out the best in me and dragged me out of depression into a more positive light and way of thinking. Although Dan’s cynicism has always appealed to my more critical side, there is something to be said for trying to develop a positive outlook. Celebrating and embracing the best elements of life and situations rather than being consumed by negativity and criticism, and certainly see that in this podcast, positive and grounded. Sorry for waffling, just saying that this podcast has connected with me in a really positive way and I wanted to share that. Keep up the good work and I’ll keep things shorter next time.

Matthew

As long as you are enjoying these I’m happy to keep listening because your ‘Ross Noble-esque’ tangent are beautiful

Matthew

I refuse to believe odyssy can beat galaxy

Addison Reilly

I think the thing i love about you most is when you just ramble and go on tangents. Definitely do more.

Loving these podcasts so much, and loving your new videos too. Was wondering if you (or any other commenters here) would have some advice on where to start with watching star trek? Had a friend show me a random episode of tng last night (contagion btw) which i reeeally enjoyed

That was super insightful and very nice to listen to while I collected moons in Mario.

Owen Reid

Absolutely loved the podcast once again, so great to listen to. Now, I know you're a massive Jeff Lynne and ELO fan, but have you ever listened to any of the Traveling Wilburys, which he was a part of, and if so, thoughts?

If you are taking about the eminem and trump thing at leeds/reading i just wanna say I WAS IN THE LEEDS CROWD AND CHANTED FUCK TRUMP OML IT MADE ME HAPPY. if not sorry for shouting at u all

Brad

(pre podcast watching comment) Do you think you'll bring back Jay in the new format of the channel? Thats not in a whiny way just genuinely interested.

Stan Gaskell

The way I explain my interest in Star Trek over Star Wars is than, for Star Wars, you can essentially change the overall space setting and still have the the overarching story intact, baring a few minor details. Star Trek on the overhand, especially TNG and DS9 where about how paradise deals with morally complex issues. And thats my view on why Star Trek is better than Star Wars.

Thomas Reeves

Can we have a Nerdcubed in a nutshell but a weird one like what we have now?

Addison Reilly

Immediately political. 13/16

Addison Reilly

JOHN NOT JAMES!!! Hahahahaha! No worries thanks for the shout out. That’s made my day not the shout out but you getting my first name wrong but my second name right. That holiday sounded awesome I am dying to go to Mexico anyone who has talked about it have said really good things. Tipping is the best thing to get further looked after and really even in self catering bar it helps lots. I go to turkey (ichmler) and the hotel bar staff is so friendly and one of them just knows us now after 3 years and this year my dad got him drunk. It was the best thing ever. Anyway I will keep listening while I play my f1 2016 career. Thanks dan for the good work and funny moments.

Valthexus

i feel like the ten-way finale in robot wars is just there to fuck up carbide. like they know he can't go the distance and they just need to do something, ANYTHING, to keep him from just walking it. i think he could take nine other competitors at once, but the no-time-limit thing is what will kill him

I've done (at least part) of that walk you mention last time I was in London! I think I started at Westminster Bridge and then up to Tower of London. Good, lovely walk. Loads to see.

Bjorn van Rijszen

Have you heard of Stargate Origins, a prequel series with 10 minute episode, focusing on Catherine from the movie and parts of SG1?

Toby cooper

I would really like to thank you for that end section on addiction, it was weighing on my mind all day, helped me realise a few things I can hopefully start working towards fixing. Anyway, I’m looking for a nice long weekend away somewhere for me and my partner, my question is, is there anywhere you’ve been that you’d recommend? Hearing how passionate you are about London made me think that a stay in London wouldn’t be too bad, but was wondering your opinion on other UK based places

Daylight savings was a German idea designed to save fuel in WWII, the rest of the world adopted it and we still do it, even though now it actually doesn't save energy or fuel now. :/

In fact it was so long ago it might have been on your main channel as a cutaway from one of your vlogs

I swear there's a video of you on your IRL channel in Mexico or somewhere with a temple

Because of this podcast, I am now no longer playing Rainbow Six Siege, I had bought a season pass and spent money on boosters. But I realised that I was addicted to the game. Whenever I was playing it, I never wanted to be playing it. But whenever I wasn't playing it, playing it was all I wanted to do. I'm stopping now, thanks to you Dan, I'm gonna play good games, that exist to be a good game, and not just to make money. I'm free from that multiplayer bollocks that's just meant to get you addicted and spend money to get those skins faster and easier. I'm done, I'm gonna play single players games and enjoy myself, I'm gonna be happier now.

Nicholas Bohmer

Thanks for answering my question! My next question is whether you believe in luck, and whether you think you've already experienced the best years of your life? #Deep #BoBurnhamReference

Gabriel Moody

Oh shit, you just reminded me of how much I miss Xcaret too. Haven't been there for years now. And the stadium thing is definitely Xcaret.

António Sousa

#Danforpresident of the world!

Ubisoft have to make a big profit buy back a their stocks so Vivendi doesn't end up succeeding with their hostile takeover, http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2017-10-05-ubisoft-to-buy-back-4m-shares-as-it-fends-off-vivendi. Vivendi were the ones who took over Gameloft and then they changed from premium mobile games to games laden with microtransactions

The best use of swearing was when Molly Weasley called Bellatrix a bitch .

Morgan

I love these rambling podcasts.

Nicholas Robinson

Good morning. (It's 20 to 1 for me right now, but shhhh...) Loved that podcast. Love the really long ones because I can just sit, listen and do shit. Also, you're welcome for the info that you can replay the festival in Mario Odyssey (yes, that was me :p)

Will ''The Button King'' Harding

I was there the day before the new Lego store opened. I walked right past it. Well one more reason to come back

I was in London for a day last year and did that exact walk(I left out downing street though). It is really beautiful. 10/10 recommended for everyone who goes there

Yet another great way to start my week. Thank you Dan! And is it just me that loves the idea of a load of us patrons meeting up in London and doing this walk together? Just spend a few hours seeing sights and swapping quotes. Bit of a pipe dream I know, but it would be cool to meet some other people formerly known as procrastinators :)

This is arguably the best podcast I've ever listened to. I'm going on a city trip to London in January, and I've added the walk and the Natural History Museum to my to do list. I travel a lot, and I've added Mexico to my to go list. In my opinion, you have a very interesting and experienced view on the world, and that is something I desire to acquire when I grow older. I was very scared of the big reboot, because your daily videos have helped me get through the day, for a long time. I did consider for a short while to stop supporting you on Patreon, because I didn't know what the new experimental videos would entail. However, I absolutely love the new videos, and these new podcasts top it off for me. I will be doubling my donation and by God I hope you keep on going down the road you're in now!

If you're having problems with it, you can just click the orange link and download the MP3 file. :)

Damien Letham

I LOVE these podcasts and listening to you witter on about stuff, but for the love of god Patreon needs to sort out their player. Every time it would reach the end of where it had loaded to, instead of buffering, it just cuts out and goes back to the beginning, meaning I have to try and find where I was up to in the tiny time bar without having a clue at what time it cut out. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just my old old laptop?

Claire Goodenough

Just so you know, Daylight Savings is a summer thing, and the October change is just the time reverting back to normal. Also the whole "farmer" thing isn't even true. BTW, I'm working on a story set in the near future, and purely on a whim, I made a little reference to your Star Trek "pilot" idea. In my fictional world, it's been published as a series of moderately successful novels. :D

Damien Letham

Dan would you ever do a meet up in London

Dan if you're looking for someone who's pretty much always positive and promotes good vibes, have a look into Cohh Carnage. He's just finished his streaming every single day for 4 years challenge. He had a son in that time and still didn't miss a day.

Good morning! I just want to mention I really love listening to these new podcasts. It returns something which I missed from when you made video's on a higher pace: Just you talking about all kinds of stuff.

Hearing dan talk about London is awesome and definitely now going to do that walk

"Fuck... I should have gotten married next to a dinosaur" 😂 Also, for the shear sake that you put this much effort into giving this London tour route, that probably no one will actually take, I will do it... eventually, I'm trapped in Canada for now
