Why did you not slow the archers theme down???

Christian Fry

Steven Universe podcast in the future? :D

Joel Coxhead

Ohh interesting :)

Dan! What happened to the podcats playlist on SoundCloud? There's only episode 25 up on it!

Chewing_Soup

I think chibnell just isn't good when he puts the sci-fi elements in the forefront, like the past two episodes have been sci-fi episodes which aren't great but episode 1 where the sci-fi is just a background he writes a good episode

Shawn Lindsay

"You have a movie called Alien, no wonder they keep attacking you" one of the best lines ever said and it was on a Christmas episode too.

GoodLuck

How did they manage to make every choice more boring than the last in this episode? Definitely a fist draft episode... Feels like every scene had a better option which Chibnall couldn't be bothered to write.

fetchbeer

I'm hoping these upcoming episodes that aren't written by Chibnall are going to be better. So far, besides Rosa, every episode has been mediocre at best. I just want some really good, exciting Doctor Who again :( Also, random note, I can't stop noticing the way the Doctor seems to now always do a huge flourish any time she uses the sonic. I still think Jodie is great in the role but it really kinda feels like she's still playing the Doctor and not so much being the Doctor, if that makes sense.

Christopher Kennard

Yeah I'm loving this podcast because I do watch Who but I miss the regular podcast :( also I really want to hear Dan thrash Diablo Mobile.

Christopher Kennard

Dan, us patreons didn't get something exclusive for a while now, I feel like I'm missing out as I don't like Who.. Will this stay as a regular thing?

Amit Fidelman

If you don't like cartoons you absolutley need to watch bojack horseman as its the best thing anyone has ever done with a cartoon (including the simpsons)

Ben Frost

I'd like to see a Dan re-write. Challenge - keep the scene where the Doctor concedes she's wrong to be getting in the space paramedic's face, scrap everything else. That seemed like a sign of growth on the part of the Doctor's character compared to the bravado and blind disregard of the previous incarnations. She started the ep. with a Tennant "Sorry", but this was an actual apology! It felt like it wasn't a moment of self-awareness following feeling the effects of the mine, but rather a coming-to after years of careening out of control.

Neil Marshall

We need to start an oddly specific movement

Jonathan

finally an episode that actually felt like doctor who.

jamie barber

Can we have a big finish series or something purely of Graham and the Nobles taking the piss out of ten?

Tom Chaney

I really thought the hospital ship was going to pay off with the Doctor's injuries being a major hindrance, but then she just felt better after a bit and it was all alright really.

Tom Chaney

I can knit πŸ˜‡

ThisDamnScotsman

I can't have been the only one to have seen the alien and immediately thought, "Nibbler!"

Dave Miller

I've never been so happy to hear the Archers theme. That's not a high bar though.

George Farren

There were three stories here and all of them had legs. Of course that meant that none of them were explored in sufficient depth, including the core alien plot. I didn't like the Doctor being disabled at the start. We've only just got over her being ill and confused; we don't need more of it. But on the whole I quite liked this episode. It kept going and it more or less hung together. On the other hand, every point you made is absolutely true; it could have been so much more. I heard condom too.

Soronlin

I liked this a lot more than episodes 2 and 4, not sure why

Malachy Hamilton

I feel the largest missed opportunity in this episode is the medical issue with the Doctor: she is the last to recover, is dazed and much more in pain than the other characters, it is also mentioned there is some serious issue with her health! She then immediately goes on to attempt to carry out a morally dubious act - trying to turn the (what effectively is an) ambulance around. This could have been brilliantly linked to something like: The medics detecting odd life sings from her (eg. a 4 beat pulse) and administering some medication (eg. nanobots which try to actively change her biology - something like the gas mask kid episode). I feel this could have helped the episode by creating tension; that the doctor needs to somehow stop these nanobots while they are attempting to change her and are confusing her moral compass so she has to rely on somebody else to tell her what is right! This would have been an interesting character exploration of the Doctor that hasn't happened before. Instead, they just left that gun unfired! :/ You didn't mention anything about this in the podcast, what are your thoughts on this? P.S. I can't knit for shit and I fit the demographic... P.P.S Also, the Pting was created by Tim Price, the horse guy?, or as one might call him P. Tim!!! (dun dun dun)

Alex Myagkov

And the bit where she said "a bit Poirot" I played back at the time and could not hear.

David Eastman

"The hit of the whole fruit" look on the aliens face was actually pretty good fun

David Eastman

Dan should watch Avatar: The legend of Aang

Toby cooper

Yh, that was quite crap tbh

Siana Brooker

I watched the later half of this episode just so I would know what you guys were talking about...
