I'm here a bit late but I'd actually recommend stoke for rural, cheap, can look like you're in the middle of nowhere but still have amenities. Look near the market town of leek - it's a super cute town with a lovely book shop, but there's a lot around there for way cheaper then the rest of the country that still looks amazing.

AStupidID

Blocking someone's drive is actually probably the first thing you can get them for as blocking access to the highway is a crime.

Cayden Andrews

If yr ok with coastal towns nairn up in the highlands is good but theres a smaller town nearby which i would says better

My wife and I bought a house a little under 3 years ago, and we went to have the septic tank pumped. They took the lid off, and the whole back wall collapsed. So now we have to replace the entire septic system. So let me say, if you move to a rural area, and you have a septic system, ABSOLUTELY get a septic inspection, it will add some hundreds to your Closing Cost, but it is absolutely worth it. I would not have bought this house as it was for that price if I had known the state of the septic system

Zakethekid

If you fancy a second LONG idle (ish) incremental game that is well regarded. Look at Trimps, it has both aa web and steam version

I would genuinely consider looking at County Durham, lots of space some lovely areas to live AND you can get good internet with YouFibre who are a local and reliable brand. I currently live in a rural village just outside of Durham, it's next to 2 farms a local pub and easy access to good dog walks and supermarkets. It's an old converted farmhouse with very thick walls and elderly neighbours, so it's often very quiet. My landlord is up for selling it if you are interested.

Peter Barrett

would love more patreon exclusive videos of whodle or just as a whole

xjxsephxinsanityx

I'd recommend looking into the forest of dean in Gloucestershire, depending on where you look you can get varying states of rural from on the edge of a town near some trees to a mile down a beaten track surrounded by nothing but woods

Just_some_guy

i was thinking that you could do tiktok’s of live stream highlights to push more people to the twitch

xjxsephxinsanityx

I live in semi rural north/east yorkshire wolds and it is beautiful here and surprisingly well connected. Its weirdly the kinda forgotten area of yorkshire even though its closeish to york, leeds etc. i feel like there are plenty of small villages around here that would be a very good fit for you guys!!

Leon Allen

Did Rebecca ever upload their TikTok video? I tried searching but couldn’t find them! I hope it’s art related 😀

Jack Barton

I live rurally on the Devon/Cornwall border not only is there plenty of space down here - we personally have chicken and turkeys etc - I would say the community attitude down here lends itself to a quiet lifestyle, people like it slow and chill, which if that’s what you’re looking for, it’s perfect

AFATMANONICE

id buy any old magic cards

I've only got round to listneing to this now; where i live in North Wales it's nice that it's connected but it's still got that rural aspect to it. Most of the private houses near me are quite far away. So theres never any real work going on. The only pain in the ass is the A55 which is practically constant noise near where i live Northop but theres places further in. That the noise just drops massivally especially now towns are resdential areas are 20mph speed limit. Places Loggerheads or Pentre Halkyn are nice. (Ignore my awful spelling)

FreedomUK482

I still can't believe that there isn't some sort of legal case you can raise against these people. The gross nuisance they have caused you is absolutely mad. I'm so sorry to hear you'll have to leave what you thought would be your forever home because of it. I have to say, I don't recommend living actually in woodland. As other people have commented, it brings it's own complications. Being near woodland is probably much simpler. I live in Yate outside of Bristol. The town itself is alright, very green and well connected to Bristol itself. But you can go just five minutes drive from where I am and easily get to houses that are isolated from others by a fair distance, and hopefully that sort of thing is all you'd need. I used to want to live in the middle of nowhere but I really changed my mind as it can be a real inconvenience. I think the ideal is somewhere that feels remote but actually isn't too far away from other things. I hope you can find somewhere that suits you.

Mike Jones

I live in a town called Northwich and it's the perfect amount of small and quiet and out of the way and good connections to cities for everything else

Jacob Hardy

Wow that sucks, I totally get it but I truly hope you can get some form of revenge before you go.

Alex Everett

Also to add that if you live next to multiple trees the contents and house insurance is astronomically high. My brother was also a tree surgeon and prices to cut them would also be a lot if it's actually woodland. Perhaps if you have a buffer of land it would be better, especially if you're planning to plant things.

Charlotte (Char10tti3)

edit: forgot also they had a coal fireplace still, as well as central heating. Also I grew up in an industrial village in Kent then moved to london and my dad still wanted to find a more rural place. No forests directly but all flat fields. I am constantly talking about living in a treehouse with my bf, so I understand haha. Also adhd and most probably autistic (waiting for appointments ha). My dad and step mum live 2 miles from a small village (1000 people) in the East Midlands surrounded by fields. There's them and the adjoining house and way off one big farm house. Love it there as a kid and teen. Pretty easy to drive to the nearest city if you need, but we mainly got food from the roadside donation farm boxes. They have a septic tank, a big garden they grow all kinds of stuff in (corn, strawberries, beans, potatoes, carrots etc). Once a year the sheep take over the roads to live in the fields and eat the cauliflower stubs. Only issue is letting the farmers know you have pets so if they get out they know to not assume they're after the chickens or ducks. Their neighbour had dogs and cats, chickens and a rescue duck (who thought he was a chicken) and they did really well there too. Only main issue they had was lack of lighting because it was legally a lane and people sped down because it was a straight road with no one needing to use it.

Charlotte (Char10tti3)

I think you would both do brilliantly in a rural setting. I'm currently exploring buying some land to build a home in some woods too. I'd really recommend having a look at HebHomes - they're sustainabily sourced & made prefab homes that look amazing, and which don't cost the earth. They're really well insulated too, so if you were able to combine with solar and a heat pump, you could live off grid without any bills (other than internet, obviously). I'm not affiliated in any way, just something I've been looking at: https://www.hebhomes.com/

Tom Spencer

Why did you have to mention NGU Idle I haven't stopped playing it since this recording came out. Damn you, I had things to do.....

Nolan Eide

Alright 50p for Lilith but you've got to put her up, feed her, walk her, give her love, play with her, cover her bills, and spend as much time with her as you can. Hope this works for you both. I hope Bluesky takes over a bit more, I switched today and lost 22 of the 45 accounts I cared about following. I will miss Jon's rambling and AuroraWatch. If anyone has any good recommendations for UK Aurora alert alternatives I'd appreciate it. Please post several hours of Guess The Game, thank you. I only knew Descent because it's one of LGR's regular test games.

Thomas Knight

With the new start/end screen for Twitch… Can you not put two different videos on screen, with the background on the back? One video which is the Patreon credits, and the other the actual highlights video? That should mean it is easier to update each month in OBS or whatever streaming tool you use! Just a thought, I’m not an expert! xD

Jason Artemis ‘Arty’ Winstanley

Hey Dan, have you played The Finals? It's what Crackdown 3 promised it would be and the best destruction I have ever seen in a videogame. It feels as if they took Teardown's destruction and somehow did it without voxels. I know you aren't big on multiplayer games but you like the chaos of battlefield and nothing is more chaotic than taking a sledge hammer to the building that the objective is in and bringing the whole thing down while you're still inside it.

Jack McCarthy

iternets fiber in the village, its not the fastest but its far from slow

jane cowie

oh and theres a old railway that got turned into walking trails!!

jane cowie

i live in a tiny village north of aberdeen, about a hour from it, and 15m from fraserburgh, theres a bus going both ways each hour and aside from that its quiet if ur not on the main road, nobody really pays you any mind

jane cowie

I grow up on the north downs in a small village the only thing I didn’t like was everyone knows everyone bizness but i would go back in a minute. All i what is a house that is as least 2 miles for any neighbour and a 1Gbps internet connection. As for internet Starlink its availably in the UK.

jason cardno

There's a few places I've visited over the years that I can recommend. Not too remote, but not jammed packed with people either. Might be worth a look, perhaps Wantage, Newbury, Honiton, Goldaming, Seaton (Devon)

marcnet

This is a legitimate offer. I have time, you are busy with so much stuff! It's an overwhelming thing moving, and for some reason I seem to really get into that? Anyway, it's nay bother at all, let me know if that could help!

Benedict

The logistics of moving is hard and time consuming. As a debt of love to you two, I will more than happily help in this predicament in any way I can small or big. So, if you want to off some of the ball aching logistics to someone get in contact! I'm quite good at this sort of thing, it's literally my job. Much love, Benedict x

Benedict

Hello both! I have lived rurally my whole life (apart from 3 years at Brighton uni) so do have advice but right now I also have time! I'm a producer and decade+ fan

Benedict

this very much seems like targeted harassment

Jordy_La_Forge

I'll buy Lilith. I live in Canada though, so make sure to make some holes in the box.

Cédrick

Dan doing austerity by cutting the website

CanadaHonk

I've got construction happening all over my building, and I cannot begin to imagine living with this for as long as you have. It's been 2 weeks and I'm going insane. Much love to you both. Also, Dan, the sequel to NGU is in the works!

Leila Harrison

I have 8434.7 hours on record for NGU Idle, I did eventually give up with it but that was just because it was starting to get a bit much.

WritingInVerse

I hear areas in/around Caerphilly, Brecon and Machen can be quite rural, cute and out of the way :)

Harry Franklin

My nanna is moving from a place that sounds exactly like what you're describing which is funny but it is on the south coast not in the north 😂😂

Jack (Chat Cast) Bantock

I missed a chance there 😄

Dave

Come ooon, "Tumblind" was right there for the taking. Also Nathan (Mxter_Chestnut) posted links above to them.

Nathan Kirby

Oh oh and look up Knepp Estate for re wildling ideas!!

LucyIsADragon

My parents adore Ullapool!! 10/10 recommend

LucyIsADragon

We are aiming to move to abergavenny central wales, it’s stunning and everyone is so sweet. You can go a bit further out of the central area out into Monmouth Very good places I feel liked you love it there!! Good luck as half of an Autistic couple this is also our goal ♥️

LucyIsADragon

oh and feel free to ask if u have any questions about setting up ur own home in the middle of nowhere Scottish Highlands cause I can pass any questions on to my mum cause that's literally what she did

Toni Santoyo McLeod

my mum lives on the west coast of the Highlands (closest town is ullapool that's 40 mins away by car or 10 mins by boat) and she basically bought an acre of woodland/swamp and then put a prefab ecohouse on it and I will say the only issue with it is that building the foundations and plumbing and stuff took a while but they just lived on a static caravan while it was being done and it was great for them!! the only problem with that bit of the Scotland is that basically all their neighbours are crofters with loads of sheep who get a little nervous about my mum walking the dogs when it's lamb season but other than that it's lovely, very rural, no people and lots of mountains

Toni Santoyo McLeod

for anyone wanting said tumblrs here it is! https://www.tumblr.com/nerdcubed and rebecca's: https://www.tumblr.com/mrrebecca (I just typed in "mr rebecca tumblr" and it was easy to find!)

Nathan (Mixter_Chestnut)

I feel like if you had the time, energy and money you rebecca and Dan would absolutely just do what rewilding jude has done, grabbing a cottage in the scotish country side to making your own Lil' home

Nathan (Mixter_Chestnut)

Your foresty woodsy house idea sounds a lot like Pettson & Findus (Swedish cartoon/comic about an old man and his cat). Also, 48 tabs? That's rookie numbers! I've got over a thousand on my phone! Some are definitely duplicates though.

Triplestaff

I was diagnosed with autism last month and I would genuinely commit war crimes to be able to have a retreat somewhere and escape having to work 6 days a week to stay in a flat in London that I Hate. Just let me and my kittens hide away somewhere please.

Holly Sendell-Barker

Considering you've lasted this long without moving, your house must be really really nice! Also for reference there are 8760 hours in a year

Narmatonia

Devon! I recommend Devon

Georgina Ivey

i love the toys videos so much but the background music really annoys me -.-

xjxsephxinsanityx

Unfortunately Elon Musk own one of the only ISPs that can likely go as rural as yous would want... Starlink.

Craig (CraigUntlNytTym) Penfold

As soon as I saw the Shapez 2 livestream I bought the game. Ended up spending 12hrs in 2 days, absolutely loving it. Currently up too color mixing

Jay350

You definitely live in the worlds end where everybody is weird blue people, but instead of everybody being weirdly nice everyone is a total prick

Daddy Driffill

I can't find the tumblr account, am I just tumblr blind?

Dave

Campbeltown is nice. there's places far enough away from the town that it's practically barren. Coming from Northern Ireland and now bing in Scotland it's so so so much better

Some Strange Thing

I'd really recommend Daniel and Rebecca play Escape Simulator together, it's just a good time

Robbie

In regards to the hour long highlights reel, to save having to re-render it every month for new credits, I’d do the credits in OBS/your streaming software of choice and have the highlights reel itself as a clean feed - that way you just have to change the text in OBS

Ash Montgomery

(also I have server space for free if you need any, just let me know)

NeonCoding

On the note of no internet, there's other low orbit satellite broadband that isn't run by Musk.

Timalay

Why doesn't patreon have a "this is not a legal fund tier" which is definitely not a legal fund to go sue his ass out of existence

NeonCoding

Also to actually address the content of the episode, I have actually lived a LOT rurally throughout Devon and Somerset in several different places. Basically, all things are doable if you're able to get stable power, clean water and any kind of internet, but I couldn't name a house that has had all 3 at any one time without lots of work. As a rule of thumb (for myself) I would say if you're within a comfortable walking distance in an emergency situation to a supermarket, main street of a small town etc. things are gonna go much more smoothly. Prepare for exaggerated issues with getting repairs, maintenance, deliveries and installations throughout your time in a rural house, and as you drive there is a serious consideration of how much wear a car gets when consistently driving on county roads. All of these things are exaggerated massively the more "rural" you are, especially if you are in dense farmland. Unfortunately, any house I've lived in being brought up to spec for basic amenities (or hidden niggling issues) to a basic townhouse is either logistically very stressful, very expensive or just downright impossible. Emergency services and online access to things can also be limited, and although the idea of the location feeling like freedom, a lot of the time it can make you feel very stuck, which I absolutely struggled with growing up in rural areas, with access to stores, post offices, legal services and for you guys, vets, being troublesome on a regular basis. That all being said - while living in rural (really rural) areas is a different breed of living and unique headaches that can be very stressful and isolating, just being able to be connected with nature, local walkways, canals, forests and clean sweet air is also obviously incredible, and you can't find anything like it in other areas. In areas of a few houses or Hamlets or small villages, your neighbours will likely be lovely, and your lifeline to settling into a new environment. Whatever area you move into will likely manifest it's own rural identity (which can be lovely) but hard to tell before you get there. You can absolutely accidentally fall into a very judgy community, but equally find surprisingly progressive groups. Although you may despise it, checking local Facebook groups is a must, and some may be accomodating to questions about life for the longer term or the kind of micro-society they run. It's a completely different balance to urban living (I've now settled on being somewhere in the middle), but I hope you guys are able to figure out what suits you. And, if this is a deal-breaker when ordering off obscure online storefronts, please god check what delivery services actually recognise the postcode of the place you look at. Once was burned having to collect every single parcel from a neighbouring farm, and that's less fun when buying from IKEA. Good luck both (hope you can glean something from the essay) <3

Sam Ph. (SalmonSun)

Holy heck your neighbour sucks. Good luck house hunting. Can’t imagine the property market is any less painful there than it is here, but after what feels like forever dealing with the rectum next door, may be the best option sadly. All the best guys.

Thomas N Wyndham

If they're blocking in your car you can have them towed away at their expense

T-Fyre

SOO, if you guys do move, you'll leak the address of the douchwaffles next store, yeah?

T-Fyre

Literally going through the toughest night of my whole life - this being uploaded at 3am I think is a summary of how much N³ has saved my ass for years. Cheers Dan ❤️
