From The Desk of Nerd³ - December 2024 Edition
Added 2024-12-02 15:42:12 +0000 UTCDearest Patreons,
One year ago, I started writing these monthly updates, designed to keep you in the loop as to the happenings here at Nerd³ Mega Global INC. However, I must admit to a certain level of deception as these posts had a second, secret goal. I wanted to track a promise I made to myself.
See, in the first of these posts I complained about how few videos we managed to release in 2023. Nine. That’s all. Nine. That’s one every new Tory PM. If you’re anything like Rebecca, you’ve probably got nine videos open in tabs right now, as well as two hundred Etsy tabs, and six that are nothing but that gif of the South Park guys making out. (You have a problem bestie.)
Anyway, the problem with my brain is that it says something, then it instantly forgets that thing. I have game engine brain, if I’m not looking directly at something then I’m unloading that shit as fast as possible to power other processes. A few decades back I could have gotten a bunch of carnival freak work as “Man who has somehow lost the thing he is still holding”. I can promise more videos as much as I want, and I mean that promise, but I need to also remember that promise.
It worked. These posts, combined with a superhero-style costume montage of me sliding my editing trousers back on, resulted in a bumper year of honest to goodness content.
70 Videos with a combined runtime of 22 Hours, 21 Minutes, and 56 seconds.
39 Streams with a combined runtime of 157 Hours, 48 Minutes, and 21 seconds.
That’s just over seven days of stuff! If you watched everything I put out this year, then I stole an entire week of it! That’s also not including over 5 hours of Cameos, any of the advent series, or the toys channel, which I just remembered was a thing and totally forgot to calculate. Not bad for a comeback. Not bad at all.
The best part of all of this is that I loved it. I loved being back, properly back, making stuff at a level that I’m comfortable with. Three videos and a stream a week seems to be the sweet spot, allowing me to cover a great swathe of games, while still giving me time to work on other projects. This was the most intense year of work on Paradox yet, and you’ll find out of that was worth it when the eBook releases in… LESS THAN TWO WEEKS?!
OH GOD.
OH GOD!!
Until next time,
Daniel
xx

I don't mind 2 videos a week and a stream but please promise us not to burn yourself out again. Take the time you need as we will still be here for you.

2024-12-02 16:37:07 +0000 UTCSo happy Daniel that you have been enjoying things again as we enjoy your content so much! The 1st December wasn't just opening the first window of my advent calender but it was also the countdown of the ebook and the start of the NerdCubed and Ashens Advent and NerdCubed awards! It feels like all my Christmases have come at once! X

If we get a few videos a week consistently, I'm happy to see you properly back. Cheers from Oregon, I'll bet a consistently uploading Nerd^3 will start to attract new viewers all over again

2024-12-02 15:49:58 +0000 UTCThis year of videos and streams was absolutely brilliant! And right when I think a lot of people needed something fun and familiar and comforting to consume

2024-12-02 15:49:36 +0000 UTCI've really loved the content this year! I know it's been difficult with the book and all the company stuff but I want to thank you Dan and Rebecca for always making my day better whenever I stick on one of your videos! Looking to the future any idea if there will ever be a return of the Podcats? Or LowRoar decks? Those were always my favourite. Best of luck with the book launch, can't wait!
