Spider verse Peni is her canon self. Not this one. This must be an older version of her from a different timeline. Listen to one of her quotes with Spiderman. Spiderman asked her if they ever met and also if she got the right Spidey. That proves there's countless different versions of themselves. Another example is Psylocke. Her new look gave me the who is this chick. She looks nothing like the Psylocke I grew up with. Until her vengeance skin came out which looked similar to the SNES X MEN Psylocke i know.
