"Alice: Asylum" Narrative Outline V1.0

Dear Insane Children,

This is it. At last... the Alice: Asylum Narrative Outline is available for you to download, read, and join in helping Crowd Design. Instructions for how to consume and provide feedback are contained within the document. Please read carefully and follow those instructions. It will make the process of Crowd Design smoother for all.

The PDF itself is linked at the bottom of this post.

The narrative contained within is still very much a Work In Progress. Some elements (dialog for example) may seem downright clunky. The polishing phase for those things will come next as part of the Crowd Design process. After that, this content will be used to drive the production of the Design Bible. And keep in mind that this content is not an exhaustive collection of everything we imagine will be in the game - but the minimum amount required to convey the main story. Once this document is locked, there will be a need to craft additional dialog, locations, and scenarios in greater detail.

I want to thank all of our Insane Children for the amazing support they've provided throughout this process. And I also extend my love and appreciation to our amazing team of artists - whose illustrations really bring to life the ideas we've written here. Last but not least, I'm giving a virtual man hug to Alex - my writing partner on this journey. It's been fun!

We all look forward to your feedback. And to what comes next!

"Alice: Asylum" Narrative Outline V1.0

Comments

i just finish to read the script ,it s amazing . i love the news places and characteres , the fighting of the two sides of alice and the most importante place of the white rabbit in this opus. great job ,i hope the game will be terminated soon .thanks american and alex for this script ( sorry for my english i m french guy )

I am so thrilled to read this. I think this is the most connected I've felt to the characters and even the bad guys on some level. I enjoy how it ties into the past games and the story twists and loops back around into it's self while being a like a beautifully complex song. That and seeing Alice grow as a person (even though it is in written word.) is refreshing. There is so many games that try to do this but in a lot of ways fail or miss the mark on letting the characters grow and over come their traumas. To Mr. McGee, Martin and the wonderful team behind this project. Thank you. No Really. Thank you for bring this to life. And defiantly please take your time and do not rush this out. I feel like if this is rushed out it would be a disserves to all of the amazing work that was put into it.

It was an amazing read!!!! I felt so connected with the characters and story, it felt right. Like, the world has justice and peace and there is a hope. The story itself felt... like it belonged. Or I belonged. It felt familiar in a way, like when you come across something from your childhood and it has that nostalgic tenderness around it. I thought the ending was brilliant!!! And the whole storyline works as a PERFECT conduit from the first to the second and wraps it all up perfectly and so satisfyingly. Thank you for bringing this world to life!!!

Karma Chameleon

Can't wait to read it after work!

I thought I'd refrain from reading because I want it to be a surprise BUT SCREW THAT I'M SO EXCITED!!! So so so proud of how much love continually goes into this project <3 We appreciate you all so much!

Sebastian

I don't want to read it because I don't want to be spoiled. That doesn't mean that I am not bursting with excitement!

Onion Knight

Finally, I am so proud of you guys!

Thanks, Greg!

American McGee

After reading the story draft twice over, I have to say my initial impressions are quite positive. There's some refinement to be done for sure but overall I quite like the structure and narrative portrayed here. I've sent my (hopefully not too lengthy) feedback along, and look forward to seeing what everyone else has had to say and contribute. And again, thank you American and Alex for your willingness to put this story out there for feedback, criticism, and review; I appreciate the chance to participate in whatever small way in the creation of a third "Alice" game!

I absolutly love it, especially the ending!

@Alex Crowley You're very welcome! Glad to have helped with my feedback.

Greyson Kehm

Thanks Robert, appreciate the feedback.

Alex Crowley

@gtkehm All good! We'd had some pretty aggressive spam filters in place, (Some emails were winding up there) but can 100% confirm we've received your feedback, I've read it, and you've made some great discussion points. Some of your feedback aligns with discussions American and I had prior in our narrative meetings, so I just wanted to take the time to thank you for your input. Much appreciated. Stay tuned!

Alex Crowley

I sent it to the email address in the feedback instructions: story@mysterious.design. Was there more to it?

Greyson Kehm

Yep,, this nails it OK. Rounds the saga off very nicely!

Thank you for responding to my comment ! 😁

Thank you! Much appreciated.

Alex Crowley

Thanks Austin, that means a lot. I'm so happy you enjoyed it too!

Alex Crowley

I'm hoping to put together a coherent thought soon and send you my feedback lol

Very happy to hear that, Austin. Glad you enjoyed it!

American McGee

Glad to hear you liked it. Can you tell me where you sent the feedback? Because I'm not seeing anything in the inbox where I might expect it.

American McGee

I just finished reading and all I can say is.. that was absolutely incredible! I had chills the entire time especially towards the end. Wow I'm absolutely blown away and cannot wait to see this game when it finally gets finished! Thank you do much for allowing us to read this!

I just sent my feedback in, and I hope it helps. That was one hell of a read, and it was most certainly worth the wait!

Greyson Kehm

This is exciting! I will try to make some time for reading this over the weekend and putting together some feedback.

Nicholas Brokaw

Thanks for your feedback so far everyone. Really looking forward to seeing what's next on this journey together. Even though I'm sure you're all aware, but please do take care and consideration with posting spoilers in public comment threads if you've read the story. I've seen a fair few comments from people who are excited but don't want to read the script just yet, lest it is spoiled for them. Which is totally understandable. With your feedback, we're happy to hear general comments and reactions anywhere, but if you want to talk specifics or plot points, please read the PDF and go through the channels provided. That's the best chance your input wind up directly in front of us, and the safest for protecting other fans from spoilers. Chat soon everyone! Enjoy <3

Alex Crowley

Oh my Goodness! I am so glad to see this script. If it will change (and it will be good for the game's growth), it's a very important sign for me. I am grown up with Alice Madness Return, I return to both 1st and 2nd Alice when I need to recover after bad days and "Alice: Asylum" is what I want to see. Thank you for your big great work!

Gonna read this over the weekend and come back with feedback Monday

Lucky Dragon β€˜She.They’

I won't read it because of thew spoilers, but I'm glad for the main story script is done.

Such exciting news! Feels like there is a little bit of big news and movement on stuff lately quite often lately. Thanks very much for the hard work you and Alex have put into this.

Taking a break from reading. WOW! Before ACT I, it is already unquestionably clear what happened to Alice. Whether or not she survived seems to be the question. Don't ruin it. Don't EVER ruin. That mystery is the life of the situation. Jesus, you are an amazing storyteller. My hat's off to you.

WOW! 20 pages in and I'm on the edge of my seat. Fantastic scene setting!

La Mala Hora

Been waiting for a long time to see this come together, looking forward to sitting down this evening with a nice drink to review this. I'll apologize in advance for the probably overwhelming quantity of comments I'll have. Thank you American and Alex for your work and for sharing this with all of us!
