Live at the Table Poll - October 2017

Happy Almost Halloween y'all!

It's time for another Live at the Table Poll! As always, the games last month's poll that didn't win are all still on the list, and I've added a new one to replace Skeletons. This month, it'll be me, Andi, Dre, and potentially one more player depending on schedule and game.

The current plan is to play this TOMORROW (10/22) in the late afternoon/early evening, with the YouTube archive available immediately after that and a basic, OBS audio archive soon afterwards.

That said: this month the poll will only be running til MIDNIGHT TONIGHT (EDT), so that we have adequate time to prep! We'll also send another message once we have a definite stream time pinned down. I've pasted some promo text about the games and links to their website pages. It's probably worth digging around online for reviews if you're curious about these, and hey, if you have personal experience, go ahead and tell us about it in the comments!

The Games

The Imp of the Perverse - Playtest Alpha 1.6 (New this month)

The Imp of the Perverse is set in an 1830’s Gothic America where monsters are real. One player takes on the role of the Editor, who creates monsters and sets the stage for the rest of the players, who take on period-appropriate Dramatis Personae, to fight against the horrors that stalk the night. All Dramatis Personae are people who have an Imp of the Perverse on their own shoulders, impelling them to commit terrible deeds. Only by fighting those who have given in to their own Imps, and literally transformed into creatures of the night, can these people gain redemption and reject their Imp - but the struggle itself continually tempts them to embrace their perversity and become damned themselves.

Fall of Magic

Magic is dying, and the Magus is dying with it. We travel together to the realm of Umbra where magic was born.

Fall of Magic is an award-winning story game in the tradition of the fantasy journey where the landscape, hospitality, and exploration of our character’s relationships take center stage.

We begin by choosing a name and title for our characters. Each turn we chose an area on the map and use the prompt there to inspire the next part of our story. The character of the Magus is shared between us and on your turn you may choose to play as the Magus, advancing us along the road to a new place on the map.

Preview the rules here.

Misspent Youth

Welcome to Misspent Youth: the dystopian sci-fi game that’s all about friendship, standing up for yourself, and changing the world.

(Preview the PDF or check out the full game in print layout over here.)

One of you is The Authority: the person, thing, idea, etc., that’s turning life in the future into a big shit sandwich which everyone is legally compelled to chow down on. The rest of are Youthful Offenders (YOs), teenagers who’ve had enough. You and the other YOs in your clique are the only ones who’re going to get off their asses to do anything about the world burning down around them.

Lacuna

Sinister secret agents with shadowy employers and mysterious pasts. A bizarre landscape built from six- billion human minds. Arachnid-headed beings that guard a war-torn borderzone. And all the worst that Mankind has to offer, stalking the alleys and crumbling buildings of a place called Blue City.

Is it a dream? Is it a nightmare? Or is it just a game? And are you already playing?

The Warren

The Warren is a tabletop role-playing game about intelligent rabbits trying to make the best of a world filled with hazards, predators and, worst of all, other rabbits. It is a game about survival and community.

There are many creatures, humans included, that are bigger, stronger, meaner, or more numerous than rabbits. The seasons and the elements do not care that rabbits are only little things. Rabbits cannot hope to meet these threats head on. Only through speed, wits, and keeping a cool head can rabbits bypass the dangers of the outside world.

Primetime Adventures

"Ever wonder what would have happened if you were in charge of a TV show you watch?

Would those two have gotten together after all?
Would he have finally reconciled with his mother?
Would there have been fewer vampires? More wicked professors?

With Primetime Adventures, that’s all up to you!

Create a cast of characters, figure out what makes them tick, and put them in dramatic situations.

Things won’t always go the way you want. Will the characters prove their loyalty? Will they stay out of trouble? Will they remain friends? Play cards to find out what happens when things on your show get complicated"

Friends at the Table

When they get around to doing The Warren I would love for Ali to be on there. I want to see Ali play a rabbit!

Adam Collier

How can we not have Watership Down, FATT edition?! I NEED Austin organizing Rabbit Labor.

Paul Dunbar

Can we assume "me" is Austin? I mean, I've already voted, but in case it makes a difference to anyone else's vote.

Ani Mosity

dangit, you jerks, vote for Lacuna! ;P

Brian Peters

"The Warren is a game about intelligent rabbits" VOTED

D. W. O'Boyle

Was just reading through the rules of Misspent Youth the other day and it seems really interesting.

Christian Sorrell

Any word on the chances of non-Austin Editor if Imp of the Perverse wins? Obviously no offence meant to Austin who is well loved, but I have that itch to hear what the others might bring us.
