Canada is America’s Boston: What’s New @ the Table

Hey everyone, Austin here!
You may have noticed that the main podcast feed was left empty last week. Well, after the longest "finale" in Friends at the Table history, we really needed a week to collect ourselves... and to give ourselves time to record the coda to a season that has truly earned its place as the sequel to both PARTIZAN and Twilight Mirage.
What does that coda look like? Well, Questlandia really helped us wrap up the action on PALISADE and was wonderful for seeing characters work towards some larger goals. That means that the episodes that remain can focus on something else: Chiefly, more small-scale moments, more interaction (narrative and mechanic) between characters, and (eventually) a little more action. So, look forward to a little setup, and then a high-stakes sortie that brings us back to where so much began. These episodes will come out over the rest of the summer, and we're really excited for everyone to hear them. Thanks as always for your patience!

I can’t believe we thought Taylor Swift would be the most controversial thing in this month’s Clapcast. It's hot off the pod-presses for patrons backing at $1 a month or more.
Horror, Shock, Delight. After this most recent episode of Media Club Plus, there is officially nothing standing between the gang and the long-anticipated Chimera Ant arc. Be ready. 💪
Leave your worries on the other side of the rainbow. Twilight Mirage 38: The Good Decision aired on Sunday. Finally the gang becomes real criminals.
Wrapped in milk. VODs for part 7 and part 8 of the ongoing epic that is Life Makeover just hit YouTube.
Bonus! BTS with JDQ! Hi! It's Jack! The most recent track I released for Palisade was 'Recalibrate some Priorities', which saw the return of the blistering, distorted bass synths that characterize the Pact. During PARTIZAN and PALISADE I've run the gamut of synths that make me feel like the world is shaking itself apart, from the Pact's metallic rumble to the hyper-distorted bass tones of the Stellar Combustor. Writing and then playing bass parts is always one of my favourite parts of making music and it's been such a treat to work on seasons that encourage them.
And as you might have seen from Austin, PALISADE isn't quite done yet, which means that my pearl-green stratocaster can't be packed away yet and my office floor remains a tangle of instrument cables and headphones. I've got one block of composing finished and ready to go and I wrote about a minute of another today. I'm very happy with how it sounds and come the end of the day I tried to write about thirty seconds more and it was like all the wheels came off the cart at the same time. Horse looking back at the thing trailing on the ground like "what do you expect me to do?"
I'm starting instrument practice for the next season! I have a sense of how I want it to sound and how I want to record it but the important step for me at this point is to get familiar with the sounds, the way it feels to hold the instruments, try and relax in my playing. Nothing worse than sitting there all tense and confused trying to write new music, unless it's Sangfielle in which case that's exactly what you want.
