Here is a comic I made a while ago of two of my characters, Aveline and Aoi.
This is a bit of a personal piece too. As a teen, I was bullied for being a hairy girl, for having peachy fuzz (which is normal for everyone, regardless of gender). I wasn't ashamed of it, I just didn't understand why it was considered bad. It's sad that I received words of hatred from classmates and family members, who are supposed to support you. I'm still surprised when some incels complained about the video-game Horizon, because the protagonist was soo ugly (she has facial hair), or when someone learn that women have natural body hair. It's... Fascinating.
I created Aoi when I was 15 or so, and besides liking cats, I wanted to make her hairy and not like other anime girls with only cat ears and tail. She was a sona, but now she's a separate character, I hope I can draw more of her!
Why did I make this comic? I saw a Tumblr post about a trans woman talking about how much she hated her facial hair, saying she didn't feel like a woman with it, until she met a very femenine ciswoman who had facial hair and was happy about it. I feel like sometimes we have such high and unrealistic expectations of the gender we want to transition to, when not even people who are born in it can achieve them.
In this case, Aveline is a trans woman who recently came out to close people. Her public persona is still male, and he's admired for how masculine and cool it is, so she's conflicted about it. For now, she's still discovering herself. Aoi, of course, is supportive of her.
