A False Choice

“Which do you choose toy? Right? Or left?” It was a question they had asked so many times before. About their eyes. About their hands. About two pocket watches. Two spirals. “Two choices. Always two choices.” Your hypnotist smiled, looking at the way your eyes wavered.
“Two choices, but one eventual outcome, huh? It doesn’t matter which choice you make, right or left. Each choice ends up at the same place. Your mind blank. Your body under my control. Do you know what that tells you?” They had come closer. You were hanging on their words.
They laughed at your stunned silence. Their hands came to your cheeks, pulling your gaze up to their eyes. “It tells you that the choice doesn’t really matter. Not when I end up in control in the end. Not when the choice is so inconsequential.” You were staring, lost.
“And your mind already knows it. It’s why you’ve already began to sink, and you haven’t even chosen. Such a good toy. So well-conditioned. I ask you what you choose, right? Or left? And you know the answer. The answer is to sink.” They let go of your cheeks, and your mind fell.
