Another important note

Update 3: Hi again, everyone.  I was discharged a couple of hours ago and am home now.  I got some prescriptions for steroids, a small amount of pain killers, and some Pepcid tablets (because steroids can cause ulcers?!)  I'm able to walk fairly well, some wobbling still, but nowhere near as bad as before I was admitted at the ER.  My typing is also a bit better, thankfully, with far fewer mistakes that need correcting.

I'm having to wait on the pathology report now for my next step.  Hopefully whatever was growing on my cerebellum disappears soon or is treatable without further surgery.  I'll be meeting with the neurosurgeon in 2 to 4 weeks to discuss what might come after that.

This has really made me reflect on life and how absolutely suddenly and strikingly it can change.  I don't engage in risky activities so it's difficult reconciling a reason for this.  I guess the reason is simply that life can be 100% indiscriminate and can quickly take from you, so it's best to enjoy what you can and do the things you've been meaning to.  There are certain (rather simple!) things I've been wanting to do that I've put off and when I get the strength again, I will.

Thank you all, again, for your kindness and support in all of this.  I mean it honestly when I say that your kind words helped me through this difficult time, before in the preop room and after surgery when I woke up and had to begin recovery.

I'm going to try and rest and recover for now.  I want to be able to resume payments for December and do a project for it, but I don't know if I'll be able to yet, so I'm gonna keep it paused for now.  Outback Slamfest is gonna be finished and posted.  You guys funded it and it will be delivered!

Take good care, everyone.  Thank you again,
-Lucky

Update 2: Hey, guys, I’m out of surgery and in the intensive care unit now. I saw the neurologist who operated on me; she was able to remove most of the lesion and sent it out to pathology to see whether it’s malignant or what kind of tumor it was.

My neck hurts quite a lot and I have a lot of wires and IVs sticking out of me. Apparently I also scratched my cornea when I was under anesthesia, which was horrible to wait to heal on its own.😅

I spent some time with rehab and I’m going to be moved from the ICU to another room today. Thank you guys for your love and support. It helped keep me feeling positive when the anesthesiologist put me under.

—————————

Update 1: I spoke with the neurosurgeon a moment ago about the CT scan and the MRI and I signed the consent to surgery form. Neither she nor her colleagues know what it is just yet until I get the back of my head opened and she sends off a sample to pathology.

It could require something as simple as chemo or antibiotics ... or it could require another surgery where some of my cerebellum is removed, drastically reducing my quality of life and guaranteeing disability. It’s scary and I don’t know what the outcome will be for me.

If things don’t work out well, I wanted you to all know how incredibly grateful I am to have known you here and for supporting me in this. If something happens to me and you don’t hear from me again (by mid December, for example) please unsubscribe and save yourselves the money. Times are tough and I’d rather you support some amazing artists out there or put it to something good — I’ve always been fond of food charities for the hungry.

I know this sounds doom and gloom, I just need it to be said in case I can’t anymore. I do love you guys and thank you again for everything.

My surgery is sometime tomorrow morning-to-midday.

—————————

Hey, guys. I’ve been feeling quite ill the past couple of weeks and I went back to another emergency room today. After quite a lot of waiting, I found out that I have a lesion or possibly a tumor on my cerebellum and it requires admittance to the hospital and a neurologist to see me.

I’m not sure exactly how things are going to go, I’m unsure if it’s also gonna permanently change my balance or if rehab will fix that. I’m going to have an MRI and a full body CAT scan (which will see if I have any other cancers in my body) in the morning and I’ll have to wait and see the full extent of it. I may be operated on on Monday.

Those of you who I owe commissions to, I will hopefully be able to get to those again ASAP, whether or not you remain patrons. Everyone else, I’m so sorry. I had planned on posting all of my unfinished panels in the event my strength didn’t return by the next month. I will still get that match finished, I want to so much.

I have so many stories yet to tell and I’m not giving in, so please forgive me this. I’m going to pause payments for December.

Be well, everyone. Life can change so quickly,

-Lucky 🍀

I’ll keep you updated when I can.
