I was thinking about how you should show off the power of a fusion core, how it can be ejected and detonated kind of like in fallout 4.

I think so, those dudes you see with the heavy combat armor are wearing ranger insignia, and a few of them have gone down

Has there been a single NCR Ranger killed thus far?

Let's try to estimate from the math we know
At the time of FO:NV starting, it is said that the brotherhood chapter numbers no more than 100 members - and that they lost HALF their knights/paladins during the battle. It is also cited that 15-20 NCR troopers died for every slain brotherhood member.
If we assume 100 brotherhood members died, then that means ~1,500 NCR troops died which seems a bit exaggerated.
To me, I dont think 100 brotherhood members died since they do number scribes (non combatants amongst them), with there being more scribes in general than knights and paladins.
I'll probably estimate that there were closer to 130-140 active members of the brotherhood, with about 40 casualties among knights and paladins leading to (40 x 15=) ~500 deaths among the NCR. Given that we see numerous frontal assaults made by NCR troops against Brotherhood gunlines, I would say +-500 casualties on the NCR side is reasonable

I do wonder what the exact causality figures are for both sides, I gotta imagine NCR must’ve lost more men here than they did at Hoover dam, just given the sheer amount of troopers we’ve seen get gunned down in their assaults at this point. (And who knows how many more offscreen)
