Commissions... ???
Added 2022-03-08 21:48:40 +0000 UTCI just posted this on Twitter, so I am duplicating it here:
So... *IF* I were to offer direct commissions, say either more finished (like the MGI or Color Commissions), OR, more sketchy (like the Sketch or Wholesome Commissions), how much would they be worth to you? (I can't decide on pricing and don't want to undercut myself.)
(* I NEED a new computer desperately.)

At this time, no. Too many things going on at once.

2022-03-18 09:01:21 +0000 UTCMy suggestion is break it down into different tiers: Watercolor sketch: starting 40$ B&W sketch: starting 55$ Full color: starting 75$ Additional fees, extra character 25$, custom background 15$, 2 part growth sequence 25$, etc. I think people forget that paying for an artist for a commission is quite costly because we're paying for your talents, labor (time), and materiels. BA I would assume these would primarily digital commissions, however if a printed option would be possible I would add at least another 50$+ to cover materiels and shipping. Just my 2 cents from someone who has a few friends who's sole income is their art work.

2022-03-13 10:48:53 +0000 UTC75-100 sounds fair but of course. “It depends” I assume muscle costs extra lol.

2022-03-11 03:36:09 +0000 UTCAround the $75 mark sounds similar to some comms I’ve gotten in the last year. Maybe do add-on amounts like $25 per extra character, or a fee if theres complexity to the image.

2022-03-09 16:40:52 +0000 UTCI'd pay $75 to $100 for a commission piece, full detail and simple background. Make sure you set the ground rules of what you will and won't do.

2022-03-09 06:41:34 +0000 UTCI think you for sure can charge a premium. Try a number you feel your time is worth and if you get too little bites cost it down and visa-versa

2022-03-09 05:27:27 +0000 UTC$40 for color, $20 for b&w/sketch?

2022-03-09 04:55:49 +0000 UTCI'm sure you'd have a blockbusting line of commissioners if you go through with this. As for pricing, most quality commissions I've gotten have been between $60-$100 each for single characters with simple backgrounds. Considering your skill level, I would suggest pricing your color commissions towards the higher end.

2022-03-09 02:06:46 +0000 UTCThis sounds interesting. I don't how prices are for other artists, but I'd guess around $60/$65 for the MGI or Color Commission (with a single character) would be okay

2022-03-09 01:44:51 +0000 UTCI'd pay 60 for a single character color commission

2022-03-09 01:18:56 +0000 UTCI'm very interested, I would say look at the cost of the computer you want to buy divided by how many commissions you're willing to take, maybe?
knivesjc
2022-03-09 00:44:39 +0000 UTCYou could always limit the purchases too, like 5 per month, with higher tiers getting priority. I’d easily pay $100 for a single character, more if the scene was more complex!

2022-03-09 00:32:00 +0000 UTC75 to 150 feels right-ish. Higher price obviously means fewer requests

2022-03-09 00:10:12 +0000 UTCI think for a work of your normal (exceptional) quality would be basement of $80 -$150 for a single character with no background. This is dependent however on the work. How long and how much resources does producing one pin up take? If you can dash it off in 15 minutes, $80. An hour? How much do you earn an hour at your Real Life job? (Don't answer that - but keep it in mind for pricing.). I do like the discount for patrons (he said with larceny in his heart), but 10-25% max.

2022-03-08 23:18:10 +0000 UTCDunno, in DeviantArt there are price between 30-100$ depending on color/Number or character; in my opinion you have a Better quality. For patreon could be cheaper ? Maybe 50% lower

2022-03-08 22:46:53 +0000 UTCI'd be in line to get a MGI/color commission for sure! In the past, color commissioned art that I've purchased has been priced anywhere between $40 and $120. My most recent color commissioned purchases have been $70 for a single character with a plain/simple background. Similarly, commissioned sketches have been priced $30 - $70.

2022-03-08 22:08:16 +0000 UTCI'd be willing to chip in for a color commission. Does $100 sound fair for a two-character color commission or would you like more?

2022-03-08 22:01:23 +0000 UTC$20 for sketch, $30 for B/W, $50 for color? But personally I quite like the convenience of being able to submit my ideas through this Patreon, it lets me throw in my commission ideas without doing a big lump sum of one commission that I stress out over every detail of

2022-03-08 22:00:08 +0000 UTCI really really like this idea. Im in! Maybe $15 for a sketch and $30 for a Color? (I have no idea what would be fair or in market value but that seems like a good place to start?) $40 for two characters in color? (Because its one background for two characters) That seems fair on my end, what do you think is fair? I'd ask around before listening to me, haha.
