Wow, last we spoke was in September, I'm so sorry for letting the time get away from me like that. In my defense I was in heavy crunch mode for work, but I really should have at least posted a quick update so you knew I was still around. In the future I will do my best to at least do that, even if I don't have much to show. I didn't hit *all* my goals for the fall, but I did make pretty good progress on everything I wanted to. So like September's wrap-up, this one will be pretty big as well. Here we go:
First of all, I finished up this illustration a few days after Halloween.
As usual, I'll be posting the full set soon along with a high res pack and the PSD file.

And here's some of the sketches/other ideas I had for this one. There's a couple more in there that I like a lot, we'll see if I ever get a chance to take them further. (Maybe by next Halloween, lol).

Next up is the Hilda animation. All the parts are cut out and rigged and ready to go.

So I hope to have the actual animation done by the end of the month. It's a pretty simple movement but there's a lot of subtlety to get right. I'm also going to attempt to do a version where all the sweat droplets are animated, which means a lot of tiny little pieces to control. We'll see how that goes.
Finally, an update on Pod's New Program. Last time I talked about the dialog system, and was pretty happy with how I was able to figure out a few solutions myself. But there were still some lingering limitations, like being wanting to be able to use a greater variety of text styles and having more control over how each letter appears. So one of the things I used some supporter money on was a text field asset from the Unity store, which so far works great and I've been working on getting that integrated into the rest of the project.

The gif isn't the best quality, but you can see that each text character fades in slightly instead of simply appearing instantly, I can add pauses for punctuation, and easily make text italic, bold, different colors, etc, and I think I might even be able to animate text for extra emphasis. So, definitely worth the cost and its just one more way supporter funding directly contributes to the progress and improvement of this project.
So, thank you so much for bearing with me and for your support thus far. I probably won't have nearly as big an update at the turn of the month, but you'll hear from me regardless!
Until then,
Red
