In the latest issue of Guardians of the Galaxy, the current Venom (Flash Thompson) visited the homeworld of the Symbiotes.
Turns out they call themselves
KLYNTAR, the symbians.

when has bendis ever acknowledged canon in regards to the symbiotes....remember vampire carnage from new avengers? of course it's not like symbiotes have ever been consistent

2015-01-22 20:22:01 +0000 UTChuh, well I remember when the symbiotes tried to invade as we originally saw them as a culture that took hosts by force and used them up...I'm guessing this retcon is that this group was a 'cancer' offshoot? well in a way I guess it explains how the symbiotes react differently from host to host.
